Thanks for answers guys. Much appreciated. I thought black permanent marker to cover up heatsink, also. I will test the board, if it is fine I will keep it. Although, I can RMA it back to Newegg but possibly later then 30 days replacement warranty deadline.

Bent pins are in the corners. One in upper right corner fan connection, other one in lower right chassis connection. They are not severe. I can fix them easily with little force. I think it is because of box design. MB can get loose in it.

If it is a refurb, is there any way to tell it?

The H50 still surprises me to this day. I got this for my Dads c2 quad and it cut his temps in half under full load. His temps now are almost as good as my loop. I dont know how it will behave on an overclocked i7 system though. I have no experience with the Noctua either so a comparison I can not do. But if you have two fans in a push-pull configuration the H50 seems to impress most who use it, and its quiet. Its not to expensive to try it anyway... I would ask in the Corsair forums and see if anyone has experience with the H50 on the cpu you plan to use.

    Good luck

I just had a strange experience. For the first time in about 2 months that I have had this board I booted it up only to find that 4 out of 6GB of my RAM was detected. I wasn't too worried as others have reported the same bug, so I tested each stick and slot individually, all worked fine. I then did a cold boot, still 4GB, powered on again, 6GB, and it's working fine again... what the hell?

It's nothing to do with QPI others have had the same problem Just a buggy BIOS I guess. I have had it run 15 hours of Prime95 and 100 runs of LinX without a single error, then it randomly decides to detect 4GB, then it's back to normal again and running LinX happy .

On another note what do you lot think of this idea for a WC setup? The only thing I am worried about is having the pump positioned above the reservoir...

I don't want to get another pump if I can help it though. I do have a 655 pump with an EK top though so it might be alright.

    EDIT:

    2x 355 = 44psi & 240GPH
    1x 655 = 50psi & 317GPH

Surely the pump I have along with the EK top will be enough?

I've got almost the same setup but I'm using XSPC dual bay res. with two 355 pumps. I'm running a tripple loop setup with one 355 in the 3,5 bay in the bottom.

This pic are with R2E mobo

Rebuilding the setup now with black an white tubes and with new rads, just got the EK block for my R3E yesterday.

Hey Mydog - what size radiator and fan are you using at the back of your case for the red loop? I think I need to add one there myself, and wanted to go with a 140 rad, but didn't think it would fit. TIA

I'm using 120 fan back there, there are holes for 120 and 140 fan there.

You are running both of your VGA Cards in 8x mode.

If you put them in slot 1 and 3 you'd be running both at 16x

I decided to go with Noctua NH-D14 with some AC MX-3 (I have MX-2 but not enough)

I just hope FrozenCPU with FedEx will deliver them on Wednesday as they said so I can get them on Friday here in Egypt

I've seen a strange thin today

My PC was off all night and when I woke up I started it and got into BIOS only to see CPU temp 77 C !!!!

I remember seeing - 39 C before for the CPU

    Clearly a BIOS bug

    I have a question :

One of the main reasons that I got the R3E was the PCI-E layout

First I thought it can run @ 16X/16X in Slot 1 / 2 but before getting the board I realized it should run in Slot 1 / 3

I got it with the hope there is a workaround

I only have one HD5870 atm but I do alot of benching with CrossFire and I have a X-Fi XtremeMusic PCI card
and in case I put 2 cards in slot 1 / 3 , the PCI slot will not be available

Why did Asus choose that ?

Good eye Karlitos...I made the correction a few days ago, I assumed the pcie slots functioned the same as my RE2 ... and while I was at it I made a sweet little tri sli bridge cover from a spare drive bay bezel

Increase the BCLK to 213 and the BIOS is slightly laggy (If I bring the multi down to 12x however, it doesn’t lag at all).

Increase the BCLK to 214+ and it just refuses to post.

I have played around with almost every setting, the only one that got me anywhere yesterday was the CPU/IOH clock skew. I somehow got 215BCLK to post.

It's really bugging me because my temps and volts are fine atm (1.28V for 212/4.03GHz - max 70C~)

When the board posts the voltage LED things get stuck on DRAM. However even when loosening the timings to CAS9 and downclocking to the lowest available DRAM multi it doesn't make any difference.

Atm the board just halts on the DRAM post, and the GFX fan goes crazy. By putting the PWM frequency on 750KHz the GPU fan stops going crazy but it still won't post.

So far the only settings that have made ANY difference are:

    IOH clock skew
    CPU clock skew
    PWM frequency

Also adding to this mystery, putting any of the IOH/ICH volts above default fails the post above 212BCLK(213 won’t work either), along with putting the QPI above 1.35V~.
