I'm glad they are replacing BIOS. There are plenty of good reasons why UEFI is better then BIOS, especially for users of multiple OSes, but this isn't one of them:

This is a windows problem not a BIOS problem. Linux has had the ability to boot GPT partitions on BIOS systems for a while now. They should have fixed it with Windows 7, but didn't for some reason.
