Might just be a bad sensor, I think almost all quads do the same thing. Mine read just like yours In-Flu.

The board's sensor seems to be matching up to the internal 4 core temps pretty well (a lot better than the extreme and ud3p anyway). Would the board read the CPU's internal sensors incorrectly?

Anyway left it idling for a few hours whilst ambient's cooled, but still at 42,38,42,42°C and prime instantly goes into 60's / 70's. Starting to wonder if lapping really did me any favours - maybe the block has kind of 'moulded' around the CPU and isn't matching up the the CPU surface any more?!

never got more than 1C of lapping a CPU mate...i stopped doing it, lapping should be done when CPU surface is irregular or block...but if both are acceptable dont worth it...

btw my second core reads lower too

Yeah, the block for my cooler is convex slightly, I used a razor blade to see. The CPU is flat though.

Might work good for a dual core cause the core is in the center but on a quad there are 2 cores and they are spaced apart and closer to the sides. Should I lap the block maybe?

Anyone know where to buy a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P now? It seems like a sweet board for my Q9650, maybe the best s775 intel board, but I can't find any....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Temps seem to have gone down enough, and I think it was just the ridiculous ambeint temps I was suffering the other day. Now back to 36,35,36,36 idle now, and even tackling 500x9 again at long last. Mosfets are getting mighty hot though.

This is the only place you can get one (they have two (2) left last I checked).

Thanks guys, however all the ebay sales and websites only offer USA shipping, it seems there are none of these boards in the EU

I'm getting to like this board now, definitely a worthy successor to my UD3P. Shot below shows 518x8.5 small FFT stable, not at 525 and just passed 8k. If I can make it to 530 I'll be proper chuffed! 4.5GHz at 8.5 and great bandwidth too, particularly considering this is at PL10
