how dangerous is it to flash a 470 with a 480 bios?

5850 to 5870 was very easy...

Worst case is you turn the card into a paper weight.

Not worth the effort, as it won't unlock any SP's
Paperweight no, having to flashback to the original BIOS via blind-flashing, yes.

mvktech.net or techpowerup.com should have it at their BIOS download section.

I've run into something annoying with my GTX470. No matter what voltage, my Windows freezes, then reboots whenever I set the core to anything above 805 mhz. Anyone experienced anything similar?

Well you asked how dangerous it was, so I told you the worst case. How was I to know you already knew that?

Hmm I am seeing some much better overclocks than what I am getting, wonder if anyone had any ideas of what could be holding me back. Currently I am running the 1.135 voltage but I haven't changed any bios yet. I have tri-sli and all three cards are running at 900 Mhz core and 2100 Mhz memory. I currently score 1818 in Uniengine benchmark with all settings maxed. Seeing some people post 1GHZ clocks and I have my water running through a chiller at 15 degrees Celsius, I was wondering if I needed more cooling or I just didn't get as nice of cards or something?

What you need is to unlock you BIOS in the voltage limit department, sorry I can't help you there!
If you finally find a way for more voltage stay around 1.25v if you want your 480's to last! Damn you'll be pushig some major wattage increases, what PSU are you running?

I am running the 1600 watt Silverstone PSU, I think I would be fine, these 480's use way less power when you keep their temps in check.

NiBiToR can't read BIOS in W7 (and Vista IIRC). You read BIOS with nvflash, GPU-Z, or some other, then you edit it and re-flash it to your VGA.

Sounds easy enough only I can't seem to find any step by step instructions to do all of this! Saying it is one thing...
