I thought "CMT" "SMT" (!?) was intragral to the design of the Ccore/"Module"

CMT is not the same as SMT. Bulldozer IS Clustered Multithreaded design,each module(or "super" core) is composed of shared and discrete structures inside(shared front end,L2,shared FPU with a method similar to intel's SMT,discrete integer cores with discrete L1 caches).While BD cores share some parts and have dedicated execution units per core/thread inside the super core/module,intel's Westmere/SB cores dynamically share resources within single core(entire pipeline).It is speculated that one BD module will be smaller than one SB core but will have greater throughput.

Sure that's how I understand it. You say Bulldozer will have no SMT in version 1.. So looking at it the other way, what will the next revision have then?

Well it is 8 cores/8threads now,but AMD didn't say they won't bring SMT at some point in the future. Version 2 may have it(SMT,each integer mini core being 2 threads capable) and may have eager execution wrongly called "reverse HT" (done entirely by hardware and assisted by software). Also there could be a GPU in the place of the FPU we see in Version 1 .

Yeah it will indeed be interesting clash . Launches won't happen at the same time,but 2011 will see both designs on the market.I'd say server will be a win for AMD,while desktop a slight advantage for intel(depending on the clocks too).

This makes me believe that the second generation BD will use the Llano socket (or its successor) since it got GPU and probably PCIe, and that AM3r2 will be the last AM socket.
That is, if AMD want to use only one desktop socket, which I hope.

I think Llano socket is to small for highend Bulldozers.

Llano = 4 32nm K10 cores + GPU.
Bulldozer = 8 BD cores. I think they can use the same socket, the gpu in llano should be quite a big part of llano.

Exactly, especially since the Llano socket can be made with BD support in mind.

The AM socket series have no PCIe or IGP support, so to me looks like a dead end.
So why not use the same socket for both Llano and the next BD?

There is a chance BD version 2 may use Llano's socket,but it's still early to say anything.Depends what kind of new stuff AMD plans to bring in.If they opt for higher than dual channel IMC,then the chances are slim.

AMD probably learned a lot from the AM series, so they must have thought twice before finalizing the new socket,
and remember to include whatever they might want in the future, even if it's just represented by reserved pins for now.
Again, that is, if they want to use only one desktop socket.

On desktop it won't,it will be DualCh. DDR3-1866.Server chips (Magny Cours) already do have QC memory controllers and in order to be socket compatible,BD variants of server chips(16 core ones) will need to have the same QC memory controller support.

they will have to include an x87 fpu otherwise it would not be backwards compatible.

Yeah they must include it,maybe as a part of the new GPU?
