Slowly but surely I'm getting my new gear dialed in for stability (see sig)...

    Current settup is at 290 x 14 x 10 x 9 which = 4.06 cpu, 2.9 IMC and 2.6 HTLink.
Because I could only afford a 1055 I'm also using Turbo Core @ 15x, so when it's in boost mode the cores are @ 4.35...

    Current Bios voltages are:
    CPU 1.4875v
    IMC 1.2625v
    Mem 1.475v
    All others are on "Auto"
LLC is Enabled on the Cores and the IMC.

    Heres the wierd thing.....
I've had no problems benching/stressing all components on the rig in both Hex core and boost mode, but for some strange reason it keeps
screwing up my wireless card (Trendnet TEW-643PI "N")....

    I guess my question is:
Is there some other sub voltage that may help the situation?
I've tried adjusting NB,HT and PCI-e volts but nothing seems to help....
Granted, I've only given them small bumps but it just seems strange that the system is stable except when I try to stream media over the wireless...

I'm sure it could be a driver/Win7 problem, but it's just not convienient for me to run a cable to this rig.
Not sure if anyone has any suggestions, but I thought I'd ask....

    Thanks in advance...... Dave

    Hey Dave,

Two things i would try. Back down on HTT link and second, back down on ht ref clock (FSB).
See if one of those two might help.

Also, what is your SB temp? A tad more ht volt, SB and NB volt maybe?

    Good luck man.

I've got this board sitting here waiting for the rest of my case to get finished up, is there any way I can tell if I'm going to have NB heating issues without booting it? Or would I just be safe to put new thermal pads on anyway?

you want to replace the thermal pads of Asus ? I didn't have any overheating issues on my 2 samples..., same pads are used for Extreme III where they seriously underperform (60-65°C on IOH and ICH, 45°C with Arctic Ceramique lol) )... but for the AMD, the temps remained pretty good... no stability issues at all experienced...

Hopefully the new bios will be out before you fire her up...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Yea I'm looking at another week or so before she gets fired up (unless I pull this rig apart, but I really dont want to), but I got it on launch day, so I would hate to get it booted and have nb temp issues and it be out of warranty

I haven't seen any issue with high NB temps , could you link me to that thread plz... really curious... might replace the thermal pads as it did miracles on my REX III sample, but that would be for the weekend... got a roof to fix...

Sorry to the OP to derail a bit the thread

Those yellow thermal pads look like sh1t! Leeghoofd, did you apply other thermal paste instead or did you leave the pads in place? If you did replace it, what was the difference in temp?

Yah I have had a few boards leeg. Already reported that a month ago to.

    I'm 2 for 4 now. 2 good, 1 bad, 1 semi bad.

I only replaced the pads on the X58 as temps were really high there ( idling at 60-65°C) After mod, them IOH and ICH temps dropped around 10-15°C with some Arctic Ceramique. But temps and contact were good on the two IV samples...

Does anybody have any speculation on how the heat sink on the Extreme compares to the one on the Formula? (Even Chew can answer this since the photos are available to everyone.)

I just realized... having switches to enable/disable the PCIe slots is WONDERFUL. I remember having my 3x4850 and having to insert/remove the darn cards a lot to do testing. Now I can just flip a switch.

I figure if it is within $100.00 of the price for the Formula then I will definitely buy it. If it is more, I'll have to think about it, and then buy it.

I say we make an executive decision for ASUS. Someone let them know they are releasing the Extreme tomorrow. "Make it so."
