The difference between 630 and 635 is about 2 usd and apparently, the 635 OC's a lot better. Can't find the review site that stated this, but it looked legit
The difference between 635 and 1055T is about 120-130 usd and was my pick for the "deluxe" version. This, however, will be a budget one
I got some help from a friend and now the plan is as follows:
Xigmatek ASGARD Gamer Case
AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9 GHz
ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO AM3 M-ATX
Patriot DDR3 2Gb - PC3-10600 (1333MHz) - Signature line
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB Serial ATA 3.0Gbps 16Mb
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler
No Caviar but I'm guessing it's no disaster. The F3 got good reviews, so I'm satisfied as long as it's cheap.
No PSU yet because the one he hooked me up with was labeled "Not Recommended" on the list up there ^^^
I'm not too sure about the memory, but it's not a deal breaker for crunching, right? Will run either Ubuntu or the BOINC dedicated distribution.
Mobo got good reviews and even OC's decently, cooler apparently also has good value for money.
So, buy a low tier (~50-60 usd) PSU and some fans and I should be good to go. Any more advice?
And again, thanks for all the help so far![]()
