    i think so lol
    it depends on the card
nvidia handles higher pcie frequency than ati
    i thonk youv safe @ 110
as long as the card is stable you ok
    after 120
if you dont need to up it dont go too high
i'm tryin to break 330blk well pass linx.god i wish my pretty little freind had a higher multi
you have a 930 so blk limit will be your cpu not the board i doubt you goin above 4.5

Everyone starts as a noob. First I would suggest staying between 101-112. Going above 112 can be risky not in terms of frying your graphics card (no voltage is being modded) but causing instability in other hardware, such as linked SATA controllers, which can and have caused hard drive corruption at settings above 115. I am running twin 5870's in crossfire and upped PCIe to 103 simply for better system stability; I have no illusions that any PCIe increase given my configuration (and you are in the same boat with 3 x 5850's in crossfire) could lead to any NOTICEABLE increase in performance of already very fast configurations (beyond possibly an uptick in a benchmark score with no real world implications given program code). If it were my system (especially given the early state of 5800's series drivers) I would likely not change the setting unless I was experiencing some instability. However just my opinion. Good Luck

Thanks guys. I still need to clean up all the miscellaneous wires but overall it was pretty straight forward. It took 3 Hours total. Waiting for New Logitech G110 Keyboard and Gaming Mouse now. That should be it.

Lads, I was wondering would someone be able to help out a noob here?

I bought a Xeon X5550, which is a lower TDP version of i7 920, with a higher QPI link. I just finished my build yesterday, and tried to get 4GHz out of it but failed.

I followed the guidelines from the start of the thread, put bclk to 200, upped the voltage and tried running mPrime from UBCD to see if it's stable before doing anything else.

At 1.45v it crashes with the prime hardware error almost immediately, at lower voltages it just reboots. How far can I push this thing?

Also are there any other settings I could tweak to get it stable? I've tried disabling HT, turbo, C1E, SpeedStep, pretty much everything, but it doesn't get any more stable.

Any help or suggestions are more than welcome

Edit: Also, would QPI link have anything to do with instability? i7 920 has 4.8 GT/s QPI and my X5550 has 6.4 GT/s QPI. I've read somewhere that anything over 7 GT/s could cause problems, and well, mine's at 6.4 on default with 133 bclk!

um silly question maybe, but i've been messing around with my x5550 and i got it stable with a fixed multiplier, but i can't seem to get it stable using normal mode, with c1e, tm, speedstep, turbo etc.

it would be nice to have it drop to a lower multi and voltage when its not being used. are there any tricks to doing it, or should i simply forget about that and run it at full speed and full volts all the time?

@psygnosi: Nice setup. Been wondering about removing the NB and SB heatsink, but according to your picture all the heatsinks on motherboard seems "linked"? Reason i've been wondering about this, is because NB and SB temperature seems to be pretty high the are at 52c and at a hot day i've seen them raise upto 60, not sure if this is normal or not, anyone know? Also any advice on cooling it? Beside watercooling.

    Hi Nitrius,

If you have had your R2E for a while the stock heatsink should come off without any problem. Dexgo has a video on installing a koolance waterblock on the R2E. He shows you how to remove the heatsink assembly correctly. Then you can replace the gunk underneath both the NB and SB with AS5 so your temps should drop to about 40-45 or even less. Hope this helps you. It helped me when I removed mine.
