I'm not quite sure, but I think socket F is a gimmick. Many heatsinks can fit it.
- bolt thru s939 heatsinks
- bolt thru s940 heatsinks
- am2 / am2+ heatsinks

Uhh... that was an awful lot of searching/work to do when you could have just looked up the hole spacing in AMD Socket F whitepapers... Anyway, yeah, the 2-hole mount for socket F is identical to the old socket 754/939/940 2-hole mount (but, obviously, not the same as AM2... AM2 coolers will only work if you have one of the socket 754/939/940 retention mechanisms in place).
*edit* ...and I know because I've been asked probably ten or fifteen times since the launch of Socket F. Anyway, I might be down for one of those setups... maybe. Certainly a screwy form factor with odd power hookups, though. I wonder if it would play nice with Ubuntu...

I'm doing science and I'm still alive...
metal you sure that yellow thing is gonna fit? it looks like the screws are in the wrong place. there should one in the middle on either side right?

well its not a cleche then, you really do learn new things every day
im glad someone had the right answer, i never thought it would have fit otherwise.
Its not overkill if it works.
I have an old s754/939 metal backplate and a bracket too i think.

I wish I could get it before all of you so i can test it and see what are our options. We def need a test system!
edt : it does NOT require a funky power supply. a regular one with good connectivity should do
