It prolly takes DICE or LN2 to get it to bench at 950Mhz+, or there's a voltage somewhere that needs bumping other than VGPU...
    Same here.
My Zotac 480 with aquacomputer total coverage WB is able to reach 850 MHz @ 1.05 V and 900 MHz @ 1.1 V.
From this frequency the needed voltage start to rise in a rather vertical line.
I can reach 950 MHz @ 1.13 V but only desktop is stable.
I can not reach 1 GHz ever at afterburner max voltage value.

What are you saying, you removed the front plate completely?? Man, i wouldn't recommend running bare VRM's on a 300W card. Maybe your VRM's were overheating before due to bad thermal tape mount or bad contact with the plate.

I'm going to put an additional fan to cool the front plate and see if it helps voltage scaling. I want 950Mhz benchable real bad without going too much ghetto with my case/cooling setup.

even on ln2 they overheat as -60c is the cold slow temp, so I wouldnt recommend leaving them bare on air/water

Yeah they do run surprisingly cool compared to the rather low quality ATi cards, 120C+ on the VRM's anyone, but they don't run THAT cool... I wouldn't risk running my card without any cooling on the VRM's especially with extra juice being pumped thru them little fookers.

I'm wondering if anyones tried popping the IHS yet on their GTX470/480

For 850 you prolly won't need much over stock volts, prolly 1.06V in worst case IMO. Things get bumpy at around 875Mhz and up, but i think getting 900Mhz for 24/7 usage on water is fairly easy. BTW, extra volts and less heat help the memory clocks a lot.

DETAILS or it didn't happen. No seriously what happened? Lemme guess you cut a few traces and/or caps/res's while trying to pop the IHS? Your w/c loop sprung a leak perhaps?

edit : sorry to hear that man.

1.138 cant be voltage limit when they ship somestock cards at 1.085, wish some fermi ln2 guru give us some more infos heheheh.

Saw a vcore mod, but no clue on how much raise and not much clear for me the wording about, gains on min fps.

Also same thread speak like soft volt mod is partial overvolt i think :P

My card reach a max at 890 and is rock solid at 870 1.080, video card mb temp dont pass 43° got a really good 3 X 12 fans intake , core max at 53°.

My impressions are that a card that pass 900 is in the luck of the draw and golden sample range 950-960 , this without subzero.

You Guys since I placed the watercooling block on the GPU it now makes a funny noise when I use the Kombustor on the MSI afterburner and even though the temps are low, it actually makes a burning sound??!! so am scare on the long run it could damage the card after playing games for a long time....??

    what you guys think?

Rather same results and impressions here with a Zotac 480 and total coverage aqua-computer WB.

Is anyone having problems where their 470 will now downclock to 2d speeds when idle/desktop? I'm using a 9800gt with different drivers if it makes a diff.
