26K didn't come as easy as i hoped for...

I need to put one of my 2 5870's under water but i'm waiting for my waterblock to arrive.

27K is gonna be awefully hard and probably out of reach.

But i'm not giving up just yet.

mine seems to be a turd. Highest I have been able to bench is 4.26/2.8 NB.

The question is always “when” as long as you’re still trying. At least that’s the way I like to look at it.

    Nice score Zeus.

Hehehe The 5770's were completely tapped in that 25K run.

Thanks man. Gonna need +150MHz on the cpu and +100MHz on the CPU-NB for 27K i guess.

Out of reach for now but maybe with the help of some ice....

Grats on your 26152 point run with your new 5870 Zeus! Well i'am stuck till i change over to windows 7 Afterbunrer crashs vista when you go to save a over clock on the video cards when you mod the file to get around CCC cap . So i'am going to have to up grade if i'am going to be able to see the 5830 be all they can be .

    Thanks mate.

Honestly i'm not quite satisfied with that run, the cpu didn't want to cooperate as it wasn't cold enough. Got some points left over for the next session.

The two 5870's have enough GPU power for a 35K+ run, that's for sure.

Onto the subject of AfterBurner, use an older driver version and i'm pretty sure your problems are gone.

I've had some damn fine results with 9.12, especially in 06.

10.2/3 give a boost in Vantage but give worse results in 06.

Time to tackle some Nvidia stuff on AMD.

Lets start off with a cheap old card that i modded the hell out of.

    This 8800 GT's got game.

    Well, I have a 1090T now
At 4GHz core speed, 2.6GHz NB, and using XP, I get a CPU score of around ~7500 in 3dmark06

The problem is this board's support for it is terrible.
It has AGESA 3.6.9.0 which allows the chip to run, but overclocking in BIOS is completely broken. Any BIOS settings to overclock the CPU don't take effect.
It needs AGESA 3.7.0.0 in order for BIOS overclocking to work at all.

The only way I can overclock is in Windows using AMD Overdrive.
In order to change the multiplier at all I need to enable then disable Turbo.
Even with that, the multiplier simply will not go higher than 20X.
If I try and set it to 20.5 or 21X for example, the cores still all show 4GHz @ 200HTT and simply will not go higher.

Also, there is a strange issue when I set HTT speeds higher.
If I put it to say 210HTT x 20 = 4200MHz, which is confirmed in CPU-Z, 3Dmark06 CPU tests slow right down in the middle of them, and I only get ~4500 CPU score.

And so far I can't get my GPU scores as high as I did with my 965 @ 4242MHz

That freq. looks almost like a SingleStage/DICE result!
Thanks BeepBeep2, yeah I been having problems with hard locks at different speeds usually when I try to start CPU-z. So I’m not sure what the problem is for sure sometimes I think turbo mode is restarting and increases the CPU speed so far out of range that the system hard locks. Yeah, this Thuban responds even better to cold than my 965-C3 did.

Oh BTW, although LLC is enabled (which will usually make for a higher CPU voltage in windows) 1.58V is the CPU voltage I have set in the bios for that 3D06 run @4.75GHz.

lol, yeah I've completed 32m Pi runs only to have it lock up when you hit printscreen on the result
    Thanks THOMO.

Thanks EQ, I’d be looking for a newer week Thuban if I was to start over again as this one I have was produced in week 08 and the IMC isn’t that strong. This one clocks up ok though.

I’d say with your chiller being a little better than mine you should better my scores easy. The problem I'm having right now with the Crosshair III is turbo mode, I can disable it in the bios but it isn’t always disabled after Windows is loaded. Good Luck my friend.

Thanks crazydiamond, the Thuban is a good processor IMHO.

Apokalipse are you using an Asus Crosshair III or another MB?
