Been thinking about this a lot and at the end of the week we're going to send a email Thanking all who came to help and saying if they care to stay on they are more than welcome but not going to extend this another week "formally".
People came with a one week comittment in mind and thats what the deal was.
To try and push them into more just "ain't right"
Those that want to stay will and those that decided to do this for just a week will have done their part and leave with our thanks.
All in all it was a great effort by those that came.
Good folks, glad to have met you all.
Doesn't matter if you brought one machine or 21, you brought what you had and brother did you guys make a difference.

I'll stick around. Maybe not super active on the forum, but I'll pop in once in awhile. I might keep my quad core crunching continuously 24/7. But I'll shut down the other 3 or 4 laptops when they are not in use.

    Why shut down the laptops?

They fit great right between the hot dogs and Popsicles.

    Thank you..Short soapbox ..
To me this is a way that we, the common folk, can make a difference.
We can't endow a research center like a Gates or Buffet can BUT combined we can get the work done.
I have kids ,some of you do,and most of you will.
This is a way to make sure that 20 years down the road this crap is history as far as they are concerned.

Well you could undervolt the laptops.
Utilities like RMclock and K10 (For the newer AMD processors) exist.

I was able to drop my GF's laptop from (Runs at 2.2GHZ) 1.2v to 1.025v it knocked off what 10C or even more.

What about sham, kingpin and hicookie or any other overclocker that work at a company likie corsair or gigabyte. I am sure they could sneak into the test lab and let run a dozen of 980x rig each or sham putting up a sr-2 rig and make it crunch a 5.5ghz with ln2

I could BUT I wouldn't put them on the spot like that.

*Peter minds* WTH!!! Is he really taking care of 7 rig at the same time. That mean atleast 7 cpu pot to take care of off and he can do that alone ?????

And than shamino go set up 7 sr-2 rig folding and try to take care of 14 cpu pot

So just tell them they dont need to use ln2 on them, water or air is fine and boinc is mostly set and forget and they might be instered. If not what about trying to get a 4sokcet m-c motherboard and get it to shamino and see if he can mod it to do some 4ghz 48 core crunching madness

Does anyone know what we are totaling up to in GFLOPs (or more likely TFLOPs) as a team for this week? We have got to be smoking past a few super computers.
    Intel Core I7 3930K 4.4Ghz | Asus Radeon HD7870 | 8 GB Ram | Win 7 Ultimate x64 | Lenovo L220x Monitor | Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speakers

Pumped up the Q6600 to 3.6GHz on air, with a 1600 rated FSB. Gonna let this run for a while and see how temps do.

Good folks, glad to have met you all.
Doesn't matter if you brought one machine or 21, you brought what you had and brother did you guys make a difference.
Movieman, there's maybe a way in between: while you may 'call it a week', you may also suggest, for those want, some other continuation-challenge, like overtaking Easynews, for example. I for one, barely dare to stop my system this week, but would surely be willing to continue for a more extended time, albeit with a bit less, err... frenzy.

That said: a BIG thank you to you for coming up with this idea. It helped mankind move forward. It helped many guys to tune there rig better than what they would have done otherwise. It allowed me to participate in this Just Cause, and give quite some points already. It even made me (finally) decide to go for phase change cooling - it would have allowed me to score 20% better, besides staying cool. Sure, others have their own story.

And it helped, if need be, to strengthen this community.

For this, before even our final score is reached: cheers, man !
Watercooling since 2005. Primary requirement for any components in my system is 0db: no fans are allowed anywhere. All components are liquid cooled with passive convection. I do not overclock.
The system is just completely rebuilt. If the only fan (PSU) starts to spin, I will cool it with 3M Fluorinert liquid.

Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 (EK and Watercool.de waterblocks) - Core i7 3820 (EK Supremacy) - 4x4B Corsair Dominator 2133 (passive) - Gigabyte GTX 670OC (EK bloc) - Samsung 830 and 840 SSD 2x256GB - 2x WD 1TB Raid Edition (enclosed in Alphacool Silentstar dual drive liquid coolers) - Seasonic P1000 platinum 1000W PSU (no fan up to about 350W) - Eheim HPPS pump - HP LTO5 Ultrium tape drive (with self made large passive cooling block on ATTO H644 SATA3 controller - 2 Innovatek radiators for passive, fanless cooling of the liquid (and heating of my room) - 3 Fujitsu Siemens P19 displays on great Matrox TripleHead2Go - alle Innovatek cooling and tubing accessories.

I'm getting excited about the easynews overtake. I think it's within our reach and a worthwhile goal; it will benefit the research community and our team.
