and bclk should I try? also what is optimal for my ram speeds?
Depends what your CPU needs, you just need to work it out by trial and error. Try slowly increasing slowly from 4 GHz rather than jumping straight to 4.2 GHz.

It's best to overvolt under load to keep your oc stable, on the other hand when idle, it's better to have lower temps.
Overvoltage on load causes some nasty power spikes etc which is not good for stability. Droop provides much cleaner power and a lot of people report being stable on lower load voltage with droop rather than with LLC on.

i think what u saying is also wrong.that there is no fsb then what is bus speed of 133 in cpuz and in bios.previous it was multiplied to 333.they simply increased cpu multies insted of bus speed multies. what i understood they changed the name to baseclock or bclk clock.

Feel free to PM me and let me know when a new bios comes out, so I can keep the front page updated.

he is right. there is no fsb as the memory controller was moved onto the cpu.

I'm trying to overclock my memory but I'm getting slightly stuck. I dont know how to change my dram frequency, my memory is in my sig, its currently defaulted to its current ratings, I want to try and get its default speed of 800Mhz a little higher. Could someone advise what I need to look at in the BIOS ?

Hi Sizmik . The sad thing that I really want changed in all mother boards is we can't set the memory frequency to exactly what we want . In your bios its under " Dram Frequency " . You can change it from there but the jumps are very high up and down so there fore you need to play with your " BCLK Frequency " & " CPU Ratio Setting " & " Dram Frequency " to fine tune the memory frequency and keep your " Target CPU Frequency " where it needs to be . What I do if I am going to run under the factory memory frequencies I will tighten up the memory timings and this will make your memory that will now be running at a lower frequency then factory specs just as fast . The rest is up to you to test it all out for stability of coarse . Remember also your " UCLK Frequency " will be changed when you play with the " Dram Frequency " so keep and eye on that before you save and leave your bios changes you have made . That's a common mistake some make not adjusting the " UCLK Frequency " back right when they are playing around with the " Dram Frequency " . Let us know how your making out , good luck !

Nice one, post up some results when you've done some testing. Hope they are some of the newer batch IC's like the CMG corsair kits.

I'm testing a new kit myself, got a Corsair CMG2000C8 kit. Will post some results shortly.

if bclk speed of 133 (bus speed in cpuz) got no link with FSB then what is it? some guys are just ignoring this fact or i didnt understand it correctly.so what advantage R3E have over R2E. sorry for my bad english
    sorry for intruption.
if any one wana check first go to bios "advance setting" in "cpu setting" ratio setting here u can deal with FSB.

Thanks for that. I played around for quite a while and still couldnt get it changed lol. I think I'll leave the memory alone for now.

If anyone is interested, BIOS 1504 would not let me post any lower than vcore 1.39 with my CPU at 4.2GHz. I've moved over to BIOS 1802 and I can post at vcore 1.29 and could probably get that a little lower with a little mess around.

I've noticed no differences with BIOS 1802 vs 1504, voltage required for given clocks or otherwise. YMMV though.

Hi, I am in need of some pro assistance for my Asus Rampage II Extreme mobo and my Intel i7 975 set up.

Ever since I built my system, it has not shown me the true nature and capability of my components, so I have been directed here by a friend in search of answers and step by step instructions on how to get my system OC'ed.

    Memory modules are Crucial Ballistix 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 PC3 12800
Cooler i have is an Noctua NH-U12P SE2
    OS is Windows 7 Ultimate

Oh and my start up is a battle which i do not understand why it struggles!

Anyone has issues with vDROOP on the Rampage II extreme board? Both on the QPI and the DRAM, if i set to 1.65 it usually runs at 1.644.... =(, now i force it to 1.66 and guess what 1.65, and my pc is running snappier than ever. 1504 bios.
