Placeholder, I hope These things always seem to start right after I go to bed, with work the next day. I'll try to backfill but have a lot on my plate, a big honeydo list plus just pulled my HD. I'll need to install a new one, +windows 7 and all the tools, and run all the benches from scratch What's that whining noise?

OT, crazydiamond, do you feel the second small rad is worthwhile? I have a spare 120 (to add to my 220) but didn't figure it would make much difference.

probably not, maybe good for a few degrees @ load w/ really high volts but w/ less than 1.55v the 220 is enough i think. i just thought it made the loop look better and i got it for 14 bucks shipped so figured why not

Here are my results (so far )...

    RIG (specs in sig):

I certainly don't have the strongest VC (4870)!
    3D06 Results:

    Cinebench 11.5:

The Heaven benchmark was really strange, I probably ran it about 10 times.
I'd never ran it before so right after downloading I ran it with my 24/7 clocks
(240x17x11x11) and actually got a higher score than I could get with my best OC....

    Heaven (best OC):

Heaven (best score @ 24/7 clocks):
Sorry, no sys info panels opened, didn't expect to use it...

I'll have to play with this when I get home from work so I can figure out whats going on.

Simon, could you give us some pointers on settings for Heaven benchmark? If we all run different settings it's hard to compare.

I hope didn’t misunderstand because if I did I hope someone corrects me and I’ll retest before it’s too late?
These tests were done with chilled water and yes they were all completed earlier.
I tried Speed Fan but it doesn’t read the core temps below 0C and didn't read up higher when I tried it earlier during these tests. I did try the CPUID HWMonitor later and found that it did read the core temps above 0-C but it was too late for my best tests below. These temp readings are what I have found in different areas some at idle some under load. The coolant temperature in the freezer at the beginning of testing is -22/-20C, bios reads the CPU temp @-3C, system 17C, HWMonitor read a maximum temp of +20C during testing of both CineBench 11.5 and wPrime 1024. Sorry that I'm not more helpful with the temp reading.

Below is a link to a photo of the thermometer showing coolant temp @-22C

You have done what was asked. Not seeking completely standardized results. Yet.

New HD, windows 7 64 HP installed, everything downloaded. Only spent an hour and a half on the phone with microsoft to get it activated (they gave me a full version activation since there was no upgrade path from xp for the home premium family pack upgrade). Yawn. Bear with me, first benches after work tomorrow.

    Well Folks...
I just took the plunge and ordered a Crosshair IV Formula from ZZF!
I've been running on MidRange boards for the last couple years and have been wanting a nice FX board.... I figured nows as good a time as any...
Hopefully It'll live up to my expectations (at least it will look nice in my case ).

It cost me $280 with FedEx overnight, maybe I'll get lucky and it will be here on Saturday.

Welcome to the world of Water Cooling beta!

If your feeling frisky with the cash, this block is cheap and VERY nice for the price!

It may be able to lower your temps a few more degrees....

BTW: Something seems to be seriously wrong with your Heaven bench...

I know Simon didn't ask for this, but I agree with you Zeus...
There are a whole lot of options that can give wildly varying results on the Heaven Bench...

I've never used it before, but like I said earlier, I've been playing with it since I got off of work.

I came up with these Standard settings that everyone may want to use. I chose them to be as fair as possible for folks who might not have the best Video Cards/Monitors...
(BTW: beta, now I see why your numbers looked so wierd 8xAA and 16x AF )

    Suggested Standard Settings:

The other good thing about these settings is that it won't take too long to run (with decent gear) and it still looks 1/2 way decent.

For folks that have 58xx (DX11) cards, feel free to change that option (I just don't have it )

This is just a suggestion for a standard, I'm not trying to be bossy...

Anyway, heres my result @ these settings:

EDIT: I ran this bench with the sound off.

Your 1st bench was the reason I suggested 1280x1024 Titan....
You have that WICKED Video Card and what appears to be a cheezy monitor.

You need to get your priorities straight bro!

    Lub ya man!

I feel your pain Titan, just bought a WD Caviar Black 2TB and Windows 7 64 bit home premium family pack (and office as well), and I'm still running a 4850 and would like to replace my c3 with a more willing stepping, or go straight to thuban. And if I upgrade my video card, especially for a crossfire setup or a high end card, I'll likely end up needing a new power supply as well. And then there's that pesky waterblock. I had hoped there might be vid cards at the end of chapter 2, but so many others had great results!

But we do it because we love it. Now if only our wives and girlfriends had the same passion for hardware

BTW, installed everything except the latest catalyst drivers before I left for work this morning (and was tempted to call in sick ) so I should finally get at some benches tonight. I don't care if I don't have the best stuff, I just wanna play!
