    pcmv run?

What do folks recommend here for 24/7 - no vdroop or setting 1?
Intel is clear, and recommending standard, but for some reason that gives too much vdroop on GB, at least much more than DFI.

I've been using 1 for a long time and it has been working fine for me, both with w3520 and X5650.
I've used 2 for a short time, but have been getting random BSOD at idle. I'm not sure if that was the reason, but it diapered after I changed to 1.

Intel has increased the CPU PLL for 32nm, and I'm still experimenting with it but can't see why and what kind effect it has on 24/7 stability, yet. Any experiences with this?

Intel has increased the CPU PLL for 32nm - what is the max now - 2v?
I have been benching many hours at 1.9v - linx stable up to 4.8 ht off.

1.9 pll seems to be what I need to be stable with 1.38 vcore/vtt. What was intel's pll max for 45nm?

Yes the max CPU PLL is 2.0v for 32nm, but I can't see how it is effecting the 24/7 stability. I'm still experimenting, but have tried from 1.5v to 1.88v and all seams to be the same. Wondering how it is effecting on other OC.

Mr mbreslin - regarding the north bridge silent pipe - I haven't used one in ages - I tossed it long ago on my x58 extreme board and never installed it on the ud7.
Major nusense - always getting in the way.
    I run an open case.
When i need extra cooling on the NB I point a fan at it and turn up the rpm's.
I do need to do this when benching with ich10 arrays.

Yeah apparently my chipset block isn't getting good contact, I will get it sorted in a couple days. It was the first waterblock I ever installed and I probably just didn't get it seated properly (though it looks alright) some have said their ek block has had problems making contact so it may not just be my installation. Nb gets 80c+ when I play bc2. Wayyyyy too hot for having active cooling. Will fix it soon.

Yep, agree - it should not be getting that hot under water - no where close to that.

First the good news -my 980X arrived today batch 3003B178 stock v core1.184. Is this a good batch - anybody else on here have this batch?

The bad news is that in the last two days my machine has gone bad, and I suspect it is the mobo. Getting lots of BSOD stop 124 and machine check errors. Have checked ram - passed 8 runs of memtest over 5.5hours. Have tried one stick etc etc. Re installed windows on a new hard drive still errors.

weird thing is that Windows will install perfectly fine - usually if there is a hardware problem windows will usually fall over during install. The other very strange behaviour is that I cannot use sleep mode like i used too - it goes into sleep mode but then almost imediately comes out - but with either CF flashing on the boards led or it will just loop at C1 and click like mad, reset button will not work and I have to use the power button to turn off, and then it will sometimes turn back on by itself, or if I restart using the power button it will resume instead of the expected fresh boot ???

Having tested most of it I am feeling it is either the graphics card or the mobo - any ideas from you wizards out there???

Very frustrated as I will noe probably have to send the board back to Giga and wait ages for a replacement - what do you think????

Well you say you're down to 2 components, one is easily checkable, find a spare graphics card to try. It may even be worth buying the cheapest card you can find just to have a spare in the future.

    Hi Crashmax,

Thanks for the good news - I am sure you are right and that this is a good batch. Might have to wait a while to really find out though grrrr. One thing is a bit strange though one of the cores is about 10 degrees below the others - still nothing to worry about i suppose.

    mbresli:

I actually have two other graphics cards in systems I have loaned out to help others- always the way isn't it. I could borrow one back for a day or so I suppose.

    Hi Mark,

Yeah temps are all different. They are inside a range of 10 degrees for me too. So, as you wrote, don't worry about that.

Probably is the mbd but just to be sure try another PSU (I know Silverstone are the best but.......) and check all connections and wiring to the mbd.
Maybe graphics is a problem but would the screen not just stay blank if it was a graphics problem?

    Hi newhit,

Strangely enough this all seemed to start after I tried changing the psu to a corsair 750 - had a hell of a struggle getting the 8 pin power to reach the top corner via behind mobo tray - maybe I gave the board a dose of static during this??? Have had a few black screens as well. Have now gone back to my trusty silverstone 850w, only reason I changed to the corsair was because I thought the silverstone was getting a bit too warm in operation.

This morning 2gb of my main memory has dissapeared - yet I fully tested it for nearly six hours the other day with memtest - all ok.

    Oh well the diagnosing continues......

Sorry, put 2 and 2 together and got 5. I mistakenly thought this made the resistor mod redundant. Obviously not.

your doing all the right things - switch out components to isolate which one is the problem. think back to what all you have changed since the problem appeared - or is this a new build?
