The users I've heard from want the PLL voltage selection fixed to allow the setting of a lower value. The way it has been explained to me is the voltage will never be able to be set to a value lower then default. Only higher.

yes some of us asked pll lower than 1.80(see you all bad people what you have done by asking for lower volts here???Take a broken pll voltage option in your face!want something else???), some others asked for skews to cpu and ram!SO forget all these and lets wish to see a good final "gulftown support" bios realise in this year!!!!

How are you guys flashing your BIOS? I use a bootable usb and when I try and flash it just ends up sitting at the flash screen saying input file name and nothing else. Ive tried many different versions and exactly the same thing every time, just sits and the screen and doesnt allow me to do anything.

Had that problem. Program trying to read BIOS file, but it can't. It wasn't so persistent in my case, gone with a reboot or USB stick change, I can't remember.

hm new A0 ES working nearly fine now on DFI.

But i have the problem, that the DFI Bios sets Uncore to 2x DDR Clock. Gulftown should use 1,5x Mem Clock as Uncore Clock. With 1,3V Vtt i can'tget over 3200 Uncore... =/ so memclock will be 1600 max for me.

Perhaps next bios will fix up this uncore multi problem...

yeah but the mem /uncore multi isn't correct. And it is only A0 stepping. Westmere EP and B0 sampels wont't work on DFI boards...

I can confirm CPU PLL is still broke lol It's even a "stable" bios and moved out of beta section.

Anyway does anyone with this board have problems cold booting with high frequency RAM? Whenever I do a cold boot, only 4 GB of RAM is detected in the bios (and in Windows). I have to let it run for a while, power it down, then power it back on and all 6GB are detected.

I'm running the memory at 2000mhz 9-9-9-24-2T @ 1.62v in bios (1.60v real voltage) and the uncore @ 40000mhz. Once I have all 6 GB detected, the system is stable. It passes memtest86+, prime95 small fft/blend, etc... and I only need 1.34 VTT.

So does anyone know how to fix this? I looked in CPU socket for bent pins and they're fine. I reseated the memory multiple times with no luck. Also I have tried messing with some settings in the bios with no luck. I thought changing the bootup clock would help (I've tried setting 135 - 180) but it really doesn't do anything. I also have been upping the IOH voltage with no luck.

    Your problem looks very persistent...
This is what I would do:
Leave your rig powered off over night to cool down. Take out your memory and heat it up to 40-50°C in the oven or in the sunlight. Put it back in your rig and power it on. You get the point? After that you will know if you memory needs to be warmed up to work properly.
If that doesn't help, do this:
After your rig has been working for a while and recognized all memory, swap it (mem) with borrowed ram from some friend (hope you have someone for it, as I don't, they all have ddr2 and ddr1 so I bought it). Or you can cool your memory in the freezer for couple of minutes, while your rig will remain warm. (Beware of condensation! It could kill your ram and board!)
If problem still occurs, then I really don't know
Maybe just the combination of HW you use.

not a good idea to replace the thermal pad with thermal grease, the heatsink is done for use thermal pad between it and the mosfet.
if you use the thermal grease probably you need to tighten the screws more than what you do when you use the thermal pad.
i would buy another thermal pad to replace the stock one.

That is 1 fine system u have there factotom..ive always wanted the ut x58 and ordred it from newegg...it was doa.nothing ,no lights ,no fans spinning up so i returned it after 3 days of playing with it..the ut not available anymore so i took the dk x58 and its a great board for what i use it for 3.8 with 1.14v and ram at 1700 and this thing flyes..
But i keep looking at the ut version as it became available a week or so again from newegg...i keep looking at it and wondering if i should get it but im so happy with my dk that it would be crazy to give it up..the ut is one of the coolest looking boards dfi ever put out, my opinion....Gosh i still want one though...a few beers one night and ill sneak over and order it while the wifes asleep..lol

It's not a good idea to alter the stock heatsink believe me I've burned the board before.

Hi, i have had error 8.8 and send boar to dfi, iīm not a xtreme overclocker, my 920 c0 was stable at 4011 with 1.36 ht off, and they say me this:
"i have attached a picture of the damage. An internal trace has been burned
thru. This can be visually seen in the picture as a bulge near the pin. From
an electronic standpoint my technician could not measure an electrical
signal passing thru the circuit using an oscilloscope. Basically the circuit
is severed. The only conceivable way this can happen is if too much power is
continually fed thru the circuit until it overheats and burns out."

I send other mail tell they that i didnīt do nothing xtreme and dfi said me:

"To be honest and direct the only thing that interests DFI is the condition in which the board arrived. The board was damaged when it arrived and that damage is a burned internal trace. This is a fact. If I was to allow for customers to offer "evidence" that they didn't cause the fault then everything would be in dispute all the time. The bottom line is that DFI must make a decision on these matters based on the facts at hand. These decisions are reached by myself and the repair technicians. I am aware that the person on the other end (you in this case) will not be happy if a decision is not in their favor. That all said, a decision has been made and it is binding. I don't expect you to be happy about it.

Perhaps as some small favor to give you a peace of mind I can tell you that I have been doing this for a long time and have mitigated 1000's of cases just like this. It is often so that in these cases a person doesn't mean to cause damage to a product, but they unknowingly cause damage anyways. That is what has likely happened here. I do believe you that you didn't recklessly overclock the product.

From DFI's standpoint it all comes down to one thing and that is the state in which we receive the product. It is the only thing that is relevant."

Now i go to buy another brand because DFI SAT sucks, be carefull with yours mobos, the warranty is for only boards than can be repaired, the otherīs are f......
