    Asrock 890GX Extreme3 + PII X2 555BE

Assembled system with stock heating and 1600 CL7 RAM.
    CPU around 40C.
    BIOS 1.10 + Seven Ultimate.

Enabling UCC in BIOS I get X4 but Windows can't boot. The strange thing is that I tryed any core combination in BIOS but always get lock or BSOD, even activating CORE0 only. There must be something to setup, I've left all defaults except for hdd controller to AHCI.

Get bios 1.20 , much better in that issue. nothing special , just enable and all cores and boot .....voila. If the cpu is not with one damaged core.

maybe don't use ahci , same problems with ucc disabled?

I tried 1.10 1.20 and 1.51a but always have the same result.

If I enable UCC I get X4 from BIOS but XP can't complete boot, goving lock or BSOD.

The weird thing is that I try any core combination but it's always the same even if set to monocore with CORE0 only.

It works well with same settings and UCC disabled.

    ???
    What should I try?

So what's the overall opinion of this board from folks who have used it (ASrock 890GX)?

From what I've read in this thread, most results look pretty positive.
My GBT 890GX died on me, and I've always liked the looks of this board.
I like the layout, the color scheme and the features...

I've never had an ASRock, but this board caught my eye from the first time I saw it!

I was going to wait for the 890FX boards, but I really don't need all the extra PCI-e lanes (no intention of running Xfire anyway).

I'm a dedicated AMD guy so I like the underdog. ASRock seems to be the underdog of Mobo manufacturers (they just try harder ), I respect that!

Oh yeah, for the folks who were conserned about cost and were considering the 880g version of this board, the one thing I would worry about would be the PWM sections of those boards!
They look like they're 4+1 on the power, personally, I've had really bad luck with 4+1 boards (maybe I just abuse them too much )...

From my experience with PHII boards the few extra $$$ for the GX and 8+2 power would be money well spent.

overclocked? or stock? , maybe something with the chip, with 1.20 bios i have no problems whatsoever with unlocking. don't think it has something to do with the bios version.

The board is fine, nothing wrong with it, even at high speed en voltage's, my choice howeve should be the 890 Fx becouse of a bit more performance.

I have been happy with the board thus far. a few hangups here and there were it wont boot after i exit the bios, it gets stuck on a boot up loading screen. but seeing as i am running a beta OS, i am not ready to chalk it up to the MB, especially since it doesnt happen every time. To be truthful at first i was going to get the ASUS 890gx board but then i saw the ASRock and figured hey i would take a chance with them. been happy since.

    QUESTION:
Whats the lowest voltage you can set for RAM on this board?
The lowest I can get on this GBT 790XT-UD4P is 1.6v.
I'm sure my Mushkin (BBSE's) don't need that much.

Will the bios let you go down to 1.35v?

    Thanks..... Dave
