I think IBM may be the one who needs to do some serious overclocking.

    LOL

A couple of questions if I may:

1: about 80% of the work I have handed in over the last 24 hours is still "pending validation". What is the usual / average / normal / longest time for work units to get validated?

2: I also noticed that almost all of my validated units were marked down in terms of points claimed / granted and some of them seriously so. The worst was claimed 273 / awarded 197. Is this normal?

They generally will be validated in a few days. Yes claimed is normally higher than awarded.

    Team 2ch is going down!!

Just wanted to make sure it was not just happening / happening too much to me

I think we need another 1000+ quad+ machines on this before we start pulling in 2ch

A big Hearty Welcome to all the new folks!!

We are most happy to have you join us for this supercomputer demonstration. I think once we make our showing, worldwide, there will be some notice taken that XS is in the building.

Hopefully some of you will see the worthwhile work we do around here and decide to stay on. But if you don't stay, we will always be grateful for your contribution.

I do this for the cancer research. I have lost many of my loved ones, both friends and family to this disease. I hate cancer.....

The nice part about WCG is that it is really a collection of serious research efforts, all in one place. If MS, or AIDS, or Dengue Fever (Think of as the West Nile Virus) is your interest, then crunch those. We also have pure research type things to offer. Human Proteome Folding #2 comes to mind.

You can select what projects you work on by adjusting the Device Mgr> Device Parameters>Home, Work, School portion and selecting the projects you want to work. You'll then get that type of work to do. (As a tip, you might want to check the "send other work" checkbox below the projects to make sure you have work to do if your primary project runs out.)

In any case, welcome to our team. Let the gigaflops fly!!

    Thanks,
    Bob

And I got my first points today!

4,734 points on my own system (gf needs more persuading), had to lower clocks to 3.9 though, was getting way too hot

    *edit*
ok after looking at points other people are getting i'm confused & worried that there's something wrong with my system...or is it normal to get 4734 points on a system that's not running WCG at 100% (my own rig, i was using it too) and I only started it at lunch time

Welcome to all who've newly joined up!

The points can take a few days to stabilize due to waiting on other people who ran the same work unit (verification).

I'm in for the demonstration of strength, it's already running. I'll switch to GPUgrid project once it's done though, as my two GPU's are more energy efficient for that kind of task.

There abouts ... more like 30k WCG points but depending on which project (they vary sightly in average ppd) and how high you clock that bad boy you could reach 35k WCG points.

    7 WCG points = 1 BOINC credit
If you look at the World Community Grid website they are listed as points, and if you are looking at other stats sites (boincstats, free-dc, etc) they are listed as credits. Please, please, please, if you post a question or response regarding points please include if you are talking about WCG points or BOINC credits. This is probably the most confusing part of looking at your contribution.
