    Exclamation Help

    Bought these:
    Phenom II X2 555 Batch 1002
    ASRock 770DE+
I'm able to get into windows with 4 cores but not to get stable.
Any suggestion on voltages and voices to enable/disable in the bios? You know I'm new to AMD...

P.S.:Thanks to zalbard and beepbeep in their suggestions of purchasing

Impossible finding the right configuration to get it stable.also at 3200mhz with 4 cores.
linx stops after 5 seconds..found a bad cpu?

Since bios 1.40 core control is available so you can play with locking cores after unlocking, 0,1,2,3 or 0,1,2 or 0,1,3, one of unlocked cores is probably not good for 4.0ghz overclock... You can also try to lower memory frequency since you stress cpu and ram, 800 or 1066 is no big difference in 24/7, bump your nb voltage around 1.35V for 24/7 if it helps, mobo will be hot if you go more than that, that is not motherboard nb voltage, it is cpu-nb voltage so it can help your IMC or L3 cache to be more stable at higher overclock...

EDIT: I now see your second post, go with CACC after ACC and find bad core first, find X3 stable overclock if possible, after that try to play with bad core if you have the will

Ok I'm gonna give it a try...but when you tested this board did it go up and down by a 0.2v continuosly during load?My intel board didn't have this problem...though the board is good!it has many options and voltage settings.
    But argh...what is cacc?
Luckily the online shop whre i bought the cpu gave me the opportunity to change it with a Phenom II X4 965 C3 for a mere 70€ including shipment...i think this is the way i'll go
(if you can specify a way to reduce vdrop throttling on this board, thank you)

Is it stable at stock settings with all 4 cores? You should find out if it's unlocked properly or if one core is not working well. And only overclock after that.
Oh, and you'll obviously need a bit more vCore at stock clocks once it's unlocked.

Yes, but actually their every AM2+ and AM3 mobo does that during load but it's not affecting anything... CACC ( CPU Active Core Control ) is for locking cores, after you unlock all cores you can lock bad one so you have X3 chip if only one is defective, but believe me, if you can boot all cores at 4ghz you can get them stable, you only need time, if unlocked chip can boot it can be stable, sometimes playing with voltages, sometimes with lowering multi's, when stress only stops it is good sign for start, if core is defective it won't pass bios post, or it will freeze during windows boot, or it will restart your windows while stressing, you are close, but real X4 965 is always a better choice if you really want quad core cpu...

I always go with lower cpu voltage with Asrock, for example if I need 1.550V, with my Gigabyte I will set in bios 1.575V, with Asrock I will set 1.525V for idle or less considering bump with load, 1.500V to have 1.550V... If default vid is 1.375V you have to go with 1.3375V to have it 1.375V in load, otherwise you see 1.40-1.41V

AOD see voltage in bios, cpu-z see idle voltage in windows

If you have chip that requires 1.425V - 1.450V for 4.0ghz, mobo is good for that, if you need higher voltage don't go that high for 24/7, after all, this is one of the cheapest if not the cheapest mobo out there for C3 Phenom's

Really thanks man, also for the 965 screenshot! You gave me an idea of that chip also.
Yes, with the 555 I can boot in windows stable. It crashes always with LinX and playing, something heavy so.
I have to play a bit with voltages also because in mine screenshot there NB voltage was only 1.250V...a bit low, isn't it?
Tomorrow I'll try with the 555, next week with 965 (obviously a C3)
Does exist a simple pencil vdrop mod like in the P5KC for this board?
Though the board is not bad for the price..stay tuned!

It is better to work in pair, two heads are smarter than one

So this two arrived today, same batch, both unlock, 1.250V default vid, two quick screenshots... We can compare settings, I can save my settings via OC DNA and send it to you I have A770DE+ and M3A770DE to compare the difference, overall M3A770DE better ocer with my previous chips

Quick boot to windows at 4.2ghz with 1.40V set in bios, quick boot to windows at 4.3ghz with 1.50V set in bios, that's it for now, more to come...

And the first step is done
NB at 1.35V, cpu at 1.4V in bios
    Now...how to get stable?

Now have found the bad core, stable quick test.1.4V for CPU and 1.30v for NB

how is that M3A770DE treating you? I am looking for a cheap alternative when I go crossfire 5770's. Has it been stable? any update on your settings?

You need 790X or 790GX, or 790FX for crossfire.

benchmarks around the net have showed that 4x doesnt limit the bandwidth a lot. Plus its cheap. Ill look into a 790 chipset.

I mean I can either go with the asrock + DDR3 or

I can keep the DDR2 and get a 790gxe from biostar. Since Am2+ motherboards can take the x6 cores.
