Well, I have to keep the a/c unit at 68c or higher or I get condensation on the hoses and my cpu block. With my 24/7 setting of 4.5 @ 1.38v it idles around 16-18c and full load never gets out of the low 60's. My first attempt was much less efficient and way more ghetto as I had 2 black ice II rads duct taped together and to the front of the unit. With this much lower fpi RX360 there is no need for duct tape and the temps are more consistent and much better overall. I would post pics of the first setup but I would be laughed out of the thread

Just put together the system late last night, plug it in, turn it on.... a bunch of numbers flash on the LED on the board and it then hangs at "89". Nothing displays on the monitor at all. Looks like it isn't getting through POST.

What does this error code mean and how do I fix the issue so that it works? The user's manual and the web don't seem very helpful in this regard.

Maybe it's a BIOS issue. Recent BIOS updates were things like "add compatibility for gulftown" and "add memory compatibility". Maybe my memory (12 GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 8-8-8-24) is incompatible with the UD7? Or maybe my BIOS is one of the older ones that doesn't support 980X? I have no way to tell what BIOS is installed because I can't even get anything to display on the monitor at all. Is there somewhere in the motherboard packaging that it would say which version of BIOS is installed?

Vdroop thingy is LLC in the BIOS if Im not mistaken. Load Line Calibration.

Use another cpu and check in windows CPUZ it will show what version it is there. Generally all mobos are sent with the very first bios.

i know with the i7 980x in bios mine only says 4gb, but when in windows it sees the full 6 gb. Are you using 64bit windows??

Yoh Bodar,

So just enable Level 1 and you will have a slightly going VDroop.
Level 2 adjusts a littel more of VDroop. The VDroop is going moderately up.

If you disable LCC the VDroop is following the default Intel spec.

i know with the i7 980x in bios mine only says 4gb, but when in windows it sees the full 6 gb. Are you using 64bit windows??

Bolas, long shot, but................all connections are good? 12v ATX top left is OK?
Graphics connectors OK? Is the Graphics seated OK? Main mbd conn seated? Is your PSU capable? You get no display, do you have heavy load on the graphics side, xfire?, SLI?
I don't mean to patronise, but, maybe the mbd is not getting past the initial loading sequence before it even gets to POST
Another issue could be that when you installed the CPU the mbd skt might have sustained a bent pin.

You need at least BIOS-F3 to POST with Golfy. Most probably you need a i7 920 to flash your BIOS, but try to boot with minimum required HW before borrowing a CPU.

Just a couple of suggestions

I removed and reseated all power connectors. I removed all drives, graphics card, and non-crucial connections to motherboard and still get the exact same error.

I have a 1500W Silverstone power supply that is only powering 750W worth of hardware. I'm using a single Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 graphics card, but it won't post with the card installed or not.

I don't think I bent anything in the cpu socket. Oh my gosh, I certainly hope that's not it. That would suck.

I'm thinking that this is the problem. I got the board from Newegg, it's got the default BIOS installed, whatever version that is I can't tell because it won't post.

Is there any way to tell the BIOS version of a new board that won't post?

Hmm... anyone in Lincoln, Nebraska got a 920 cpu to loan me so that I can flash the BIOS? Or is there a way to flash the BIOS with a thumb drive regardless of the cpu installed or not installed?

Hey Bolas, I had the same problem when I bought my ud7 from newegg.. f2 bios is what it came with.. I had to go buy an i7 920 at fry's so I could change the bios.. Then I brought it back to the store the next day.. No harm You may need to get another chip for that to work..

I figured it is the BIOS. I don't have a Fry's or a Microcenter here. What's Best Buy's return policy on opened cpu's, I wonder?

How about a local PC store and asking them to let you flash the BIOS in their workshop with a tray 920 chip?

I am aware tho that it is looking rather stupid in the USA with the scattered PC stores that usually don't have quite the variety of hardware to choose from...not to mention CompUSA etc. Been there, done that.

I really prefer my German PC stores here with the good old shelves stuffed with modder stuff and gamer hardware. ^.^ Mail order can be nice but I prefer oldfashioned shopping and an occasional fight with a chronical AMD fanboy.

I like that idea. There has got to be a store that will upgrade the BIOS on the motherboard for me. I know one on the south end of town that does some custom builds, I bet they would help with flashing the BIOS. There has got to be another store somewhere further north, too, I would think. I bet they are all closed on Sunday though, so I'll have to either take a day off work to focus on building the computer (a great idea) or try to do it during an evening or weekend.

I just googled "Computer stores in Lincoln Nebraska. You got 10 large ones and around 50 to 60 small repair and retail shops. One of them has to be up to date on clockin and benchin and will maybe let you take your machine into him or her and stuff in the right cpu and load the latest bios. Then stuff your cpu in and check it out maybe do a little benching right there. Maybe make some friends.

I pulled into a small computer store in Portland a few years back. There was a crowd gathered around a computer system. They were trying to overclock for the first time. It a P5N-e SLI with a e6400 chip in it. I got to talking with the group and the next thing you know I was doing the overclocking and showing them around the bios. We got it to around 3650mhz stable.
the store is gone now but we are all still friends. And that system is still in use..

Just went to a small computer shop. They were officially "closed" on Sunday, but the door was open and the owner was there. He said he'd flash the motherboard bios for me for $40 plus tax, if they had a cpu that would work in the board. But not today, they weren't open today. I got one of their business cards so that I can phone them and see if they have the right cpu before I drive in. I'll probably want to phone around tomorrow and see if I can find a shop that would let me borrow a chip on-site for cheaper than that. Or find somewhere that does overclocking or something useful.

I did find out that they'd buy old computers at salvage rates, so I will probably sell them my wife's old desktop system and use the money to buy a sound card, muahahaha. I might keep my old system and use it as a Linux box, haven't decided yet. Otherwise sell it and buy some headphones. I'm glad I found somewhere to unload my old stuff I don't need any more, better to have cash than clutter.
