Sony Zaps PlayStation 3 'Install Other OS' Feature

Without the update you can't sign into the PSN, meaning you can't play any online game and later on you won't be able to play offline games requiring the 3.21 patch. So to me, it seems it's a mandatory update unless you're ok with your PS3 being nothing more than a blu ray player.

who installs linux on a ps3 and then plays games using the playstation network?
why would anybody do that?

i agree that its stupid from sony to lock a function like that, but... i really dont see why anybody actually cares?
