Sorry but I totally disagree with that.
    One yes, two definately no..
I can't argue your math but I've always worked from the perspective of overkill is just enough..
For me with two of those especially if OC'ing them I'd want a minimum of a 100w and probably 1200w
When I set up the 2-5970's on my SR2 rig I had a PCP+C1200w feeding everything but the cards.
Had a separate 1200w Antec on those..
    Really necessary?

People just over-do everything, you are more than fine with a 750W PSU for that card. You will never use 1200W, not even on triple SLI/CrossX
Couldn't have said it better myself!

It kinda pisses me off how rediculous people get with PSU's, have you actually measured the draw of your system? no-one needs more than 1000w's and remember these are rated CONTINUOS power not even peak! Yes a 750watt will be fine, anyhow its the current draw on the rails that is the real issue. MAYBE 2 may be a bit of a strain, but I doubt it, if your worried, maybe stagger the spin-up time of the HD's as they spike a bit on spin-up but not hugely.
