Where do I get BOINC X64? When selecting "other operating systems" on the download page all I get is Mac and Linux. All x86.

Sure, go ahead. I usually use whatever the latest version is on their HP, haven't had a problem with that in a loooong time.
Problems, if ever, only do arise if you upgrade from a very old BOINC version. But usually even that goes smoothly. BOINC is very hassle-free compared to all the other DC platforms out there.

Trying to track down the original poster. After you download the BOINC client, you can print the instructions where it says "clicking here".

saw the Email from Movieman and I'm Good to go!

How much can I expect to contribute with this system:

    4.2ghz i7, GTX275 volt-modded to 780core

I'm currently a Folder, but I never realized how slick the BOINC interface was. I am very impressed with the options and think I will switch my distributed computing efforts/electricity to BOINC. I really like the options for when it can use the internet and when to stop using resources!

I guess i7 can produce something like 30-35k ppd. You can also use your GTX275 into our GPUGRID project, which is also based on the BOINC platform.

I'd say you can expect 30-35k PPD on WCG with that i7 depending on the projects you're running.

I'm curious about that 275 on GPUGrid though... 780 core? what are the shaders at? That thing might be able to make 40K PPD...?

24 hour prime stable? Please, I'm 24/7/365 WCG stable!

So you can do Furmark, Can you Grid???

The only projects for ATI are Milkyway and Collatz. Some get it working on F@H, but it's a little harder. (Plenty of guys to help ya though if you want to!)

I have nvidia cards, but after reading the instructions I'm a bit lost. Do I have to download a specific driver for my cards ? when I ran the GPUGRID my computer crashed.

Yes, for the Supercomputing challenge the only project to add is WCG, but if you like the DC thing, you can also join GPUGrid.

Those 295s would make a killing over there.

Similar to hlonipha's question: the only project that 'counts' for the challenge is WCG? So - at least for this week, May 1-8, I should deactivate all other projects in boinc, even if they are associated with the XtremeSystems team?

N00b question + i'm busy@work (don't have time for FAQs, sorry): how long it takes to report the results - how fast they will appear on wcg stats? It seems that i've completed few projects over the night but don't know what next?

It can take a few days for them to start showing up. Once they are validated they will show on your MyGrid page.

As long as you don't get any errors you are good to go. For me WCG is the bset way to know if the rig is stable.
