Thanks, I'll try that when I get the chance. I suspect it is my CPU's IMC that is holding me back more than anything else right now, but a new BIOS might help . . .
update: I haven't really stretched the RAM yet, but that BIOS update bought me an extra 150 mhz at the top end on my Athlon II x4 635! I can get it stable at 3.85 ghz now rather than 3.7, at least when the cores are isolated anyway. Will probably shoot for a unified cores/nb/RAM overclock at around 3.8 ghz.

Hi guys,
I`m reading this thread for beginning, and I know, that probably the best sticks for AMD are GT`s, but I can`t afford it. What you`ll choose from this ones:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...D4GX3M2A1600C8
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2800CL9D-4GBRL
or maybe something else for 150-170$?
CPU will be 955BE or 1055T (depend on price of course). With MB is a problem, lot of stuff coming out soon, right now choice is:
-Crosshair III
-GD70
waiting for 890-GD70 and Crosshair IV.
What you think?
E2180@3,00G + DFI DKP35-T2RS + TRUE 120 + OCZ Reaper 4Gb + WD 6400AAKS + Samsung F3 HD103UJ + ASUS 3870 TOP + LIAN-LI V2000 + CORSAIR HX520
what do u think about this modules (photo original, i can buy for good price...)

Get what you pay for.......At 1600 c9 they hardly belong in a thread titled "BEST RAM FOR AMD" however, more like Budget ram for AMD.

I have those sticks Flank3r and i've struggled to get 8-7-8-22 at 1600.. and that is with 1,8v. Indeed you "Get what you pay for" so my advice is to get something better.
I just started testing these Corsair Dominator GT 2000 CL8's, first boot!

i just started testing these 2000C8 dominators aswell, so far i've gotten 32M pass with 7-6-7-18-24-1T @ stock voltage, havent tried lower yet.
but it seems like there is some 'wall' , tried 85x mhz 7-6-7-22-34 @ 1.7V even, and it wouldnt pass.
admitely, there are 1000 more options in the bios / amd overdrive which i dont know to well yet.
perhaps anyone sees something that is set to 'tight' besides the 7-6-7-18-24-1T thingy? as mentioned, tried up to 7-6-7-22-34 with 1.7V but 32M didnt pass then either.
1.7v to much.........not needed for those speeds play with memtest and you will note more voltage = errors.
Shouldn't need any volts till 1720+ also if thats gigabyte use the white slots.

Alright, thanks. i will use the whit slots aswell. will fiddle some more, and later on with singlestage, on stock cooler right now!
Thijs, something must be off. You should be able to pull off at least 1700 6-6-6 at 1.65V with these sticks. Set primair timings to 6-6-6-18 trc 24 and trfc 120ns and leave the rest at auto, that should do.

Anyone have any experience with these sticks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231321
I read a review of them and they do really well for being low voltage sticks. Basically was able to get them up to 1946MHz 6-9-6-24 1.55V. Pretty solid if you ask me.
Thinking about a set of these for my new Crossfire IV Extreme or MSI 890FX board.

Those might look good on Intel, they're pretty useless on AMD. Running trcd @ 9 on AMD is a sin.

i've gotted 836 7-6-7-18-24 1T @ 1.65V so far.
Also got 824 mhz 6-6-5-15-11.
but i cannot boot higher then 830 / 840 mhz :/
2000MHZ on AMD should be possible soon
and it looks that motherboard has something to do with max mem speedbut will see how much

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two sets?

The first link is to the C8D's and the second link is to the C8's, but I am not sure if there is a big difference.
Fiddling with the singlestage for a bit now, 900mhz 7-6-7-18-24-1T is obviously 1M stable, but not 32M. tried 2T aswell, and 90 or 110 Rfct , but that didnt help either. ill check if a bit more voltage helps.

Highest result so far, still working on it, does more cold ( -40 to -190 ) help in mem mhz? or moves up the imc limitation?
So far i've used 1.3V NB and 1.68+- Vcore on the dram. i think i got some improvement going from 1.26V to 1.3V NB, but at 1.3V the GB bios started flashing with red that the voltage was high, being a amd noob, i wonder, is it to high, or can i get it up to 1.4V safely?
Best one so far, if anyone has any tips or comments, please say so, im all ears!
Highest 1M so far was 912, but i think i can push that a bit higher, same goes for the 32M.
