Well... its nice to see some guys compete with utter transparency and not sandbag

Either way, your best MHz/ times wouldnt change The only difference is having to answer the question to yourself: how many CPUs do I want to go through to find a better one, coz this one is maxxed and I aint in 1st place?

Maybe....but I only spent about 40L of LN2 on this chip, and I still feel like I could have squeezed a little more out of it with more time and effort

But yeah, considering Team Japan's usual transparency, I didn't think my early posting would be a problem for me....but it ended up biting me in the @$$ I guess I'll have to play the game like the rest in the future

BTW - I purchsed 1 CPU...the one I used. We all know that the Team Japan guys went through at least a couple dozen (I heard 30 from a good source....aka the shop owner ) to find their best samples....

AFAIK, no-one on here is being paid enough to forego respect + camaraderie for No.1 at all costs. In 6 months, the score will be meaningless. Respect and reliability lasts so much longer

K404 mate if you saw Mia's time and knew what your target is you would test and test and test until your efficiency gets him

Mia was a static target and Japanese OCers are the best at tweaking Pi....

Transparency doesn't work. Mia was always going to take a hit unless he had backups himself. That's the name of the game.

How much would it change the game though? Benching blind shouldn't change anyones approach. Everyones still pushing as hard as they can if it's something they care about. A big backup game 15 minutes before the deadline realistically isn't going to change any final scores, unless someone messes up their timing and a result doesnt go through. What are you gonna do with 15 minutes if your final session was 3 days ago? Submit your best and hope for the best Your best is your best and if you're up against tier-1 competition, even if they were running blind, the end result might still be the same

EVIL idea: a competition where all results must be published within 12 hours of obtaining them. Mandatory Wallpapers change throughout the competition timeline, with a headsup of when those changes will be, so we dont get CPU-Z-esque result invalidy because a new version was released while we were offline benching

IIRC, most of the Japanese overclockers were posting scores throughout the month, which is a big difference with posting nothing throughout the comp and your best at the very end.

Backups cán be useful, I guess. If you have a crazy chip and you don't want anyone else to know (in order to keep them from testing more samples), backup is the only way?

No they were not...I was watching closely

Don't get the wrong idea guys, it was my mistake...I was expecting to get better scores to post towards the end myself...but ended up wasting my time trying to get that darn BIOS from cookie working Booooon and DAKARA did a great job, and deserve the win 100%

All of this may be moot becasue I think I screwed something else up....

My appologies, but I'm thinking this was not the GOOC qualifier competition. I think things got lost in translation, and I thought this was GOOC when it was really just P55 competition (as in the other thread).

So, lets put this behind us and get back on topic...

benching against something gives you more motivation....if not against someone than against yourself.........i know at last thats how i work.....i make myself crazy but i am not really caring about online competitions THAT much...just my own little world or weirdness when i stare at blue screens for months lol

A very interesting situation arises in the qualifying round in Russia. From the hardware there will be the motherboard GIGABYTE GA-EX58A-UD3R and PSU GIGABYTE Odin 800. Guys, Can you imagine what will happen with this motherboard under LN2 - Gulftown 5GHz(+) + UD3R(!) HD5870 + PSU Odin 800W?

Stopping the use of Special ES and ES has a very simple goal. Make the play field a little more equal for people that were not connected ...
Now, the big shoot are equal to the little kid in his bed room, at least on Intel CPUs ... And this is what we need to archive, and it worked. In a recent Overclocking event, the retails parts did fairly well in your hands, proooooooving that you guys are big shoot, still

I look forward to see what will happen in Taipei this time. I think I will have a nice surprise for you guys there.

Are you going to carry it around in your pocket and show everyone like last year or are you actually going to let us play with it this time?

Benchtec won the UK GOOC 2010

I came ~5th with watercooling. Had a duff chip that turned the PC off if you tried to boot above 1.4v *rage*

Amazing RAM though. Corsair GT 2000Mhz CAS 7-8-7-20. Best runs were with 1920Mhz 6-6-5-20 and 2300mhz CAS 7-7-7-20 - big points cored there

...just not enough to make up for the poo chip we had all morning. Gigabyte thought it was the PSU and we changed but kept repeating itself so swapped the chip 2nd half.

A lot of people enjoying the site of my rad with double sided Kaze 3000's :P
