Could this be more than a Bios problem for the MB??????
I could'nt agree with you more thats why I'm now using my R2E with a 5970 and 2x 5870 to get Quadfire. I acctually hav two P6T7 her and I'm not using any of them at the moment, no good for benching and no good for hard CPU workload unless your running @stock.

I wonder if Asus really knows how many customers they have lost due to their policy/inablity too fix throtling issus on their X58 mb's. Add some inferior support for popular Xeon's, certain bios features not implemented in the cheaper models, and just too many almost equal mb's in their lineup.

Using multipliers higher than 25 on 980X results in multiplier throttling too! (P6T7)
It's a joke! Granted you can definitely reach CPU ceiling on less than 25X but some don't like ratcheting BCLK that high. Also for whatever dumb reason even multipliers are not as stable as odd. This was true on many CPU. Most of mine are Xeons.

Do you think it is more than just a bios problem....I can only assume this because it is not being taken care of...

Does anyone know if the rampage II has this problem??? Or any of the other Asus X58 1366 boards????

I guess it is time to seriously look at EVGA or other options!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't throw out 1K just to use my 25 multi.....

I'm running with the Rampage II now and have no throttling on the multis like I had with the P6T7.

I just received a board for validation testing and will see what we can do on our end (ASUS Technical Marketing) with engineering to solve the throttling problems being reported here.

I know this is the wrong forum, but will the throttling issue be addressed for the P6T Deluxe V2 board as well? I too am experiencing throttling with the 980x at anything above the 25x multiplier. Like the rest of the posters here, it seems like an evga classified is the way to go nowadays. I've been an Asus user for many years now and hope this gets resolved. I appreciate any help or insight you can provide.

Well I've got a Rampage II Extreme and there is no throttling with that MB like it's on my P6T7.

It looks like asus isn't in the rush to release the special bios update, probably because if they do, it may hurt the sales of other motherboards badly, because really, this motherboard + no throttling and some other tweaks and optimizations puts the other even newer motherboards to ther rest. THis one is too good to update I guess, it is even... dangerous for business...

    For Bingo13

    Hi, Bingo13.

I was wondering if you may have an update for us on a new throttling bios for the P6T7?

    Thanks in advance.

No news on an updated throttling bios for this board.
If Asus comes through and sends me something, a link will be posted here in a millisecond.

I need a little help here.

    1. Are any users still having throttling issues with a Bloomfield or Nehalem and BIOS 0607. If so, please shoot me a PM with your configuration. We have tried a dozen processors and so far not a problem.

    2. The 980X problem with high multi settings is replicated and we are validating a fix.

    3. Are any Westmere users having throttling problems or getting above 180 BCLK? If so, please shoot me a PM with your configuration.

    4. Are any users having problems with 4GB ECC modules (12GB or 24GB)? If so, please shoot me a PM with the manufacturer, model number, and description of the problem.

    Thank you in advance.

PM sent. The 0607 throttles as any other bios except the 0052v.
How to flash the 0052v back after the 0607, - it says the motherboard is newer then the bios version?...
