500$ for GTX 480 with 8% more HP and a bunch more watts over a 400$ 5870 which will drop in price when GTX480 comes out. I don't know guys,I know i will wait a little before I dump my cash...

if that's true, good luck on RUNNING it on stock cooler.
130W more than 5870?? That's indeed double, like someone said a few pages before!!
But I doubt that's a real case scenario. Probably some "power virus" like Furmark that wakes the beast within Fermi![]()

http://www.nordichardware.com/en/com...n-hd-5870.htmlAMD to counter with overclocked Radeon HD 5870
Today we can reveal that AMD has chosen to counter NVIDIA's new graphics card with an overclocked version of Radeon HD 5870. In other words, no HD 5890 or such but just an overclocked HD 5870.
AMD says that its Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, with GPU clocked between 875-900MHz, will be enough to keep even pace with NVIDIA. The memory clocked will be increased slightly from 4800MHz to 5000MHz.
Considering Radeon HD 5870 launched six months ago with 850MHz GPU clock frequency is pretty remarkable, especially since 900MHz is far from everything the Cypress GPU has to give.
Whether AMD's overclocked Radeon HD 5870 card will be able to stand up to NVIDIA's new flagship remains to be seen, but AMD doesn't seem that worried about NVIDIA's first GeForce Fermi card......

Nope only comments like this are EPIC FAIL. There's plenty of reasons people desire to stick with Nvidia vs ATI. Last ATI I had was X1950XTX or X1900XTX whatever it was and the shaded graphics and AA were F'd in BF2 and Catalyst drivers were garbage.
I think most people will also agree SLI works better than Crossfire but of course that depends on the title in general though I think SLI has better gains in performance.

even the gtx280 is way cooler, although it has a huge die size as well. hum, doesn't look that goodespecially if you consider the rather good looking heatsink.
i hope that's just due to some low-noise fan speed profile (like the radeon 4850 has...), where the fan speed is set pretty low and can be increased without suffering from the noise that much.
doesn't change the power consumption though. 130w more than a 5870 is quite nasty as, imo, the 5870 eats a lot of energy already.
i think i won't be able to run that thing on my 550w psu
i'm playing bf2 with an ati for over 1,5 years now. full eyecandy with 4xAA (adaptive aa), 16xAF never had a single issue. the only thing that doesn't work on an ati is the shadow smoothing technique used in bf2. bf2's shadows look weird anyways so it's not that important![]()

"Delta electronics inc" says it all. Performance before silence.
This fan has to be very loud at 100% I bet (knowing Delta this will probably run up to like 5500rpm if it is 70/72mm or whatever), maybe closed headphones starts becoming a recommendation soon.Luckily Delta fans usually scale well noise wise if you lower speeds and they have a tendency to last like forever.
Oh and now I see why the cards have so high TDP.![]()

Last time I heard about "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT", GT320 and GT330 were launched... yeah me too - dunno what that is.
=====================
FYI I said many many times. Its just plain old boring video cards, thats all. Sure gonna be faster - just like every year, nothing special.
Everybody had it so hyped up, as if it will do your taxes and teach your kids piano. Sorry mates.
Aint never gonna be another 9700pro or G80 launch, ever.. they're old, nobody would buy them.. its history
