    This thread title is now misleading, clarification:

    Translation: if your Intel storage controller is set to RAID mode, you'll now be able to benefit from your solid-state drive's TRIM functionality when running it alongside a RAID array comprised of mechanical drives. TRIM isn't supported for SSDs participating in a RAID array, however. Intel may add that feature in the future, but it hasn't committed to doing so.

    The actual Raid array does not get TRIMed, only single SSD devices connected to the controller when put in raid mode.

    Uhhh, techreport is wrong. It _does_ support TRIM in raid0 mode. I'd rather trust Intel's words than what that site is saying. Directly from RST 9.6:

    Open Intel SSD toolbox and perform a manual Trim of your raid.

    There is no manual TRIM support yet.

    It doesn't mean that they are liars. They just got confused. Making mistakes is human. And that isn't a good test you just proposed. SATA TRIM and manual TRIM are entirely different things. The new drivers are passing the SATA TRIM command through, allowing the SATA TRIM to work on raid0 arrays. It does not, however, allow manual TRIM to be used.

    Do I understand well that RAID0 SSD's are automatically TRIM'ed? In other words, I can set up my system to boot from my X25M SSD's in RAID0 without risk of degradation of the SSD's?

    Is there any way to see that automatic TRIM of the RAID0 SSD's has taken place?
