TRIM for raid is here ...(For Intel chipsets ;-) )

SSD fanatics on my SSD forum are already showing some nice gains in performance...

http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...FOR-INTEL-RAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! post 2 has the changelog

    Driver...http://downloadcenter.intel.com/deta...&DwnldID=15251

Looks like all raid levels except 5 have TRIM for SSD...raid 0 speed freaks rejoice.
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?

great timing... Just loaded my OS on a Vertex LE so I would have TRIM and using my Vetex 120 RAID-0 for storage. Now I will have to figure out which is actually faster!

Hmm, question here: I have one 1.8" 80GB G1 and 1.8" G2 in RAID 0, could I in any way get the Trim function?

The driver states that all drives in the array must support TRIM in order for the array to support TRIM, so no, your array won't support TRIM with that G1 still in there Sorry

I think that only G2 drives have trim support.

AFAIK Intel did not do a FW update for G1 drives for TRIM support. I have two and would love for them to do it.

It depends if the drive supports TRIM, if yes then yes.

These drivers are better than I thought, for an initial version is good enough, version 2 will likely improve performance.

I would love to have a couple X25-E drives in RAID 0 with TRIM

So... is there a list of which SSD's support RAID now and which don't? Does this work only for RAID using an intel chipset and not for add on RAID cards? Or what? Someone explain it to this noob please.

So for example... does that enable trim for an OCZ Z-Drive? Does it work on OCZ, Intel, and Crucial drives?

Gotta love Intel. Good work from the men in blue.

EDIT: does trim automatically kick in after installing this driver? thanks.

If it is an Intel chipset Motherboard and the drive supports TRIM then yes.

Apparently this only supports Win7 TRIM but not Intel toolbox manual TRIM.

From my experience, you should manually trim the OS drive once every 2 weeks to restore performance even though Win7 has automatic TRIM. So in the end even with these drivers, the drives will degrade unless the Intel toolbox gets updated to manually TRIM the Raid array.

I seriuosly must concur, I went from a singgle 7200 drive to a RAID 0 on two Intel SSD's and it's insanely fast. I work in XP64 and it's just ridicoulusly fast.

Great , can't wait to try it out .

So I just install these drivers on my ich10 and trim will automatically start doing what it's supposed to do ? I don't need to configure or start a service or something ?

    Awesome stuff!

Is this driver in beta or it's WHQL? I don't see any indications of either status from the Intel link.

I have Windows 7 installed so when I setup a 2x Intel 40GB SSD in RAID 0, will TRIM run automatically in the background?

Yes, if you haven't disabled TRIM manually in Windows 7 and if the drives have a TRIM capable firmware, installing these drivers will automaticly allow TRIM to work. You won't have to do anything else

As far as I know these drivers are WHQL certified.

I'm kind of n00b when it comes to Raid drivers... you install this before you install Windows?
