Ok, that was the comedy now to business.
I love the idea Bob. You get me the info I need and I'll move it to Jon's account.
I also think I found the sweet spot for this machine for 24/7 work
4000mhz(20x200) and looking at right on at 100K per day at that speed.
Dropping from 4200 pulled temps from mid 60's to mid 50's..
Jeez, was I that transparent? I thought I was sneakier than that....Oh well, I tried...

OK, back to business. I'll see if I can get Jon's key from the WCG folks. It worked before, so I think I may be able to come up with it.

4gig of 24 threads is awesome. Any idea what the power draw is now at that clock? Temperature drop is nice too.

No worries about a case I will go upmarket and use plywood instead of cardboard (It would live in a server rack really)

EDIT: I'd throw a rig on Jon's account and be happy I could!!
    Board:$600.00
Chips: $ varies but not cheap,$1000.00-$3000.00+
Memory: 6x2 gig PC3-10700 or better: maybe $500 and up..
PSU: minimum with as small vid card is a 1000W top unit: $380-$550
    HS: TRUE's or better;$150.00
Case: At this point in time just the Mountain Mods will work..varies

I had borrowed 2-5970's for the weekend but one wouldn't work.
Finally ran out of time and tossed in my EVGA 260GTX..
Besides, on this board it SHOULD have a EVGA vid card.

Even if they only consume 200 watts at load, it would be a little hard me thinks . That's an extra 600 watts . He'd have to rewire to get everything loaded on a single circuit...

Yeah nobody needs 4 x GTX 480 unless you want to use it for GPGPU, but maybe some smart PR-agents in EVGA could borrow a few GTX 480 to you for benching?.

The CPU-score of your setup + 4 x GTX 480 should break a few WR. It will get the EVGA GPU and MB on the top of the list. Were are those smart PR-people when you need them?

My gut feeling is that Fermi cards are in such limited quantity that to even borrow one I'd have to go to the CEO of EVGA and get out my kneepads!
I would love to toss two of them in here for a couple days and see what those beasts would do..

Not bad for it's first almost 1/2 day on WCG!
Essentially 11 hours and 21 minutes work...
    Statistics
Date.... Total Run Time.. Points Generated.. Results Returned
    3/17/10 0:011:21:33:56.......... 48,124............... 76
and the killer is it's getting almost all of what it's claiming..
Maybe IBM's servers are looking at this and going WTF?

I wonder how many gpugrid points could be pulled off with 4x295's? It would be great to break 100,000ppd for wcg and gpugrid on the same machine.

    I know a single GTX275 is about 20k / day for me. 4*GTX295 = 8*GTX275 = 8*20k = 160k ppd? Rough estimate!

I picked up 3 cheap 280GTX's the other day to run on one of these boards for gaming as well as GPU grid. I was thinking about putting the GPU's under water because I see a few people complain about high temperatures causing damage over long periods of time. But getting a set of new blocks for three cards seems to be almost what I paid for the GPU's themselves so I'm wondering if it's worth bothering to watercool them at all because with that money I could get better CPU's.

Would three GTX 280's be fine on stock air cooling?

Yes don't waste your money unless you already have the stuff for the loop and can get the blocks really cheap like $50.
