Ok, after taking an extra 30ish pics, I finally got one I like. That one is pretty bad.

And now I'm draining my current setup to see what I can do with this.

It's obvious what they have done.
To take the pressure off overtightening the screws instead of making the walls thicker they have made the screw holes thicker.
    Same effect probably.
I wonder what is instore for version B?
I really hope this fixes it as I don't think I could be bothered stripping down another WC loop.

I can see the cracks on your pic as they were the exact same on mine so hopefully the new fix works.

i dont like gluing nuts in acrylic, i made some custom connectors for my acrylic case out of acrylic, basically some push in threaded nuts just like these, pain in the ass to push them in, but some glue was good for holding, but made a bunch of tiny cracks, since it expands.

i think i would rather see some thick acrylic areas for anything that gets screwed in or mounted too. and they could use some kind of frame or backet that holds it to the case, instead of screws that go directly in. whatever it takes to keep it as strong as possible. people care alot less about how many MLs it holds, and alot more about the fact it can hold it.

Just got mine today, sorry no pics yet, but just glancing at it really quick I already know I won't use it. Just more fail from PC it seems, at least I got some more tubing. =P

why the hell won't they just release a change log sort of thing and actually explain what they've done and how they've tested it and why they think it works now

hmm, i'm thinking that some clever clogs on here could come up with a way of mounting it in the case without screws

I'm curious to know if the 8 port res was revised as well, or does it still use the larger nuts. If I recall, Geno said that Brian was having a 3rd party company in california go over all the data and the units so as to figure out what was going wrong. My hope (and the reason I decided to buy one), is that the quality of acrylic being used had been the main problem and that is now corrected. I just dont really remember heaing about to many 8 port res failures (because there were far fewer of them sold), and they dont have to put up with the stress from the PEC. So if the new acrylic fixes the problem, then I bet that the 8 port version has kept its older mounting nuts and there has been any changes to it.

As a reminder Geno is no longer involved with Primo Chill =)

That said, I don't think the 8 port has the inserts anymore either.

Has anyone install the new version into their loop? Any observations?

Mine was shipped last week so I'm hoping to get it before the weekend.

I'm leak testing. I'll have it ready to finish bleeding tonight. I'm so strapped for time and this mess has really put back a research project of mine. When I defend, I'll list primochill on the revised schedule and milestone chart - no one will get it.

I've got to admit, they're trying. Most would've walked away I think. I think that they may have so much invested in it as far that they dedicated to making it right - which is good. Again, I hate being an involuntary beta tester, but the free tubing helped (still the wrong version though). The new version seems a little lighter, slightly clearer. You can tell that the material is a different mixture (no poly-carb).

When I finally called and spoke with Brian he said "we've been in this business for X years, and we're not going anywhere." That was re-assuring. Brian also subtly reminded me that the Texas shop (Geno) is no longer involved... you kids are so funny... Worrying about who's been screwed... (it's us btw).

I guess we'll see. You know I'll post if there are problems.

What vendor did those of you who have the new revision use? I've been following this catastrophe since it was introduced last summer, but it seems like every vendor has been out of stock.

They are RMAs directly from primochill for the most part. I myself have two junk T3's, and a new one I don't trust sitting at home.

Mine's in and running. Leak free and crack free so far.

I think the bottom in port is a little out of spec. I had a ridiculous time getting it not to leak. I ended up tightening it up more than I was comfortable doing, and it still leaked. Finally, I used the oversized O-rings provided for the BP fittings on the primochill plug and it stopped leaking. I hope no damage was done.

Regardless, still far from a pain-free installation. It just wants to leak and takes some work to get right, and more work means more room for error.

The mounting screws are a joke, seriously, so tiny. I moved this res over to my DD torture rack so that the res would be at the bottom (below any hardware - since I lost a motherboard in another case from the first one). So it's just sitting there. It makes bleeding a little more trying. They said that they were changing this for the next rev.

The new ghost compressions are much better, the tube doesn't pull out like the previous ones did. The material is obviously more rugged.

I'll let you know how it holds up and if any cracks appear over the next week or so.

I prefer IBT, Involuntary Beta Tester, but dummie works too.

This thing will permanently have toilet paper under it. So far so good (still dry and snuggly soft).
