A0 Westmere-EP´s are not supported in 0608 without modding.
A1 and all later are supported.

has anyone else had an issue with the cmos loosing its config when unplugging the psu?

every time i move my machine or unplug the 24pin i loose all my bios settings.

i replaced the battery twice and it still does the same thing.

Are these BIOS versions home brewed? Or are you just helping Asus out?

Anyone successfully operate 4gb ecc ram modules in the P6T6 WS with xeons? I would like to populate the board with 24gb ecc.

I have found Samsung 2GB ecc M391B5673DZ1-CH9 to successfully function with ecc active and detecting on the P6T6 WS but I require denser sticks. I tested Kingston 4GB ecc KVR1066D3Q8R7S/4G which do not post on said mb.

I work for ASUS. I am trying to help out the owners of this board. I have taken the first set of comments back to engineering for resolution, the most important one being 4GB ECC module memory compatibility. I should have another beta shortly.

Hey Gary didn't know you now work for Asus hehe.. cool

Got my 980X last week but due to family health issues + work, haven't touched a bench rig in 6+ weeks now!

0609 bios loaded the other day on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution

I would really appreciate any updates on 4gb ecc modules. 6x4gb ecc on this board will be great for vt. Thanks.

Why do you prefer ECC over non-ECC? Please enlighten me.

    @4276Mhz 1.320v idle and 1.264v load

With EIST/Turbo enabled and Win7 Power Management set to Balanced. Loadline Calibration Disabled = Intel vdroop enabled.

wPrime v1.55 Load - did 2 runs here as I have Turbo Power AUTO which meant @4276Mhz 1.264v load, it throttled according to i7 Turbo monitor. Then I set Turbo Power in bios to Disabled to prevent throttling for 2nd run. Noticeably faster wprime 32M and 1024M times when Turbo Power is disabled to prevent throttling.

    Turbo Power AUTO

    Turbo Power Disabled

Thanks eva2000 for your always thorough results and thanks too for showing how i7 Turbo and RealTemp can spot turbo throttling while the competition like CPU-Z ignores this problem.

Edit: My apologies to Juan Jose, the Asus rep who put in a lot of work helping to fix the turbo throttling issues. I took his last e-mail the wrong way. It's good to know that CPU-Z 1.53 can finally tell users the real truth, at least some of the time.

I did some with and without throttling math on your results.

    Multiplier:
    32.00 / 30.73 = 4.1% difference

    wPrime 1024M
    124.921 / 120.326 = 3.8% difference

Easy to see that when the average MHz drops, the performance also drops by a similar amount.

I'll have to get to work on creating a 6 core version of i7 Turbo and I'll stop calling them Core i9 in the future.

TweakTown has some impressive LN2 results with these new Gulftown CPUs.

Actually cpuz v1.53 also fluctuates from 4276mhz to 4143mhz under wprime v1.55 load when i7 980x throttled just you can't see it as clearly as i7 Turbo

    Hey guys,

Has anyone got any guide or notes on tweaking DRAM CTRL and DATA REF voltages? Only links I can find are the ones eva2000 has posted up all over the net saying may need to tweak them to detect all 6/12gb of RAM :p

Having issues with getting 6gb detected when pushing over 4.3ghz, had trouble before going over 4.2ghz but moving the DIMMs around in slots 1,3,5 (different order of DIMMs) allowed me to push further.

Would this also indicate the RAM or the board struggling? was always Slot #5 that stopped detecting the DIMM but switching them about got past this.

Can post up more information if required, have got more notes at home - understand the vDimm and VTT relationship and have done quite a bit of testing on that but starting to think its over volts that need tweaking (as per eva2000's impressive writeup on the subject)

    Thanks

I am anxiously waiting for your results.

In the meantime I tested these Patriot 4gb ecc modules with no success on a P6T WS:

pretty much trial and error - for me i set VREF ratio % higher relative to the other modules, for modules that required more vdimm than others if you see from A-DATA 2000X 6X2GB testing and 3x2GB testing at http://i4memory.com/f83/12gb-data-20...testing-20350/

I was wondering if my 47c-50c(hot room 78f) system temp was high or normal? This is probably because I keep my case fans at 5v, 12v would lower it to 40-43c easy.

OCing my i7 965 was easy with this board.
    3.6ghz at 1.2v
    3.875ghz at 1.275v
4.0-4.133ghz at 1.35v(didn't like temps/performance overkill so I gave up on lower Vcore testing)
anything higher requires over 1.4v so I gave up.

Any news on whether the P6T6 supports 4GB ECC RAM yet? I still don't see any 4GB DIMMs on Asus' list of approved RAM.

I was thinking of buying one of these boards, but I really want at least 24GB ECC. Does the P6T7 have the same problem?

I also noticed that the user manual suggests using "more cooling" with 6 RAM sticks. Any idea if typical heat spreaders will be enough?

We just received 48GB of ECC memory and I have an engineer here from HQ to assist in testing. I know it is taking a little while but I am trying to make sure we cover as many bases as possible on this one.

    48GB ECC RAM drools.

Gary, frenchlick is running Xeon W3680 B1 Step 2 ES on P6T6 WS Revo but seems some cpu multipliers are causing some throttling while other multis aren't even for same cpu clocks http://i4memory.com/f54/asus-p6t6-ws...tml#post129402 ? Is 0609 bios fully supporting W3680 cpus yet ?

Weird style with Asus these days, why they are not supporting their Workstation boards?
