    i have both the ps3 and the 360 (ps3 used for $80 and 360 $100 at walmart pre black friday), and on games that i have played both versions or watched some1 live play one and i played the other, on FF13 the ps3 looks way better, on brutal legend there is less lag and dmc4 were the ps3 was less lag the 360 was brighter and had better contrast and the pc was the only playable at a respectable fram rates and image quality.

    im not sure how it works exactly but xbox reps say that they have exclusive use of ati parts for HD, nintendo stopped the wii from doing HD even though its in the console to run 720p and 1080i, and it makes no sense for sony to use the NV part they saw what NV did to MS with the original xbox with overcharging and reliability problems (problems back then were 5% deaths over the lifetime). the next xbox was announced to have an ati part and the wii is now rumored to have a powerVR for the next one also. so there has to be something with licensing from ati they were used all the time for integrated devices until the qualcom buyout of the ultra mobile, and they dont have a bad name, meaning that powerVR is magic (they are going to be in the apple stuff, android stuff, psp2) so it could be for making things work cross platform but it seams like its the only choice for the full consoles

    no its a modded x1900 it came out well before the r600

    xenos is an r500, 48 shader units, 8rops and no support for MSAA i dont think thats an r600 it sounds alot like a moded x1900 or the other r5xx parts from the x1800 and up, or are u talking about post 101

    Xenos is a custom made chip based mostly on the r500 arch. It's like an X1900XT, but I think with some stuff added.

    And about the CPU, i thought it was made by IBM, so it can't be x86...

    the cpu is a cells retarded cousin, its a tipple core PPC part without the interconnects made from the IP sony and tosh brought to pair with ibm

    Actually it does support MSAA and the shaders are closer to those of the R600 than they are to R520 or R580. MSAA is also performed almost identically to how the R600 does it.

    Cards which have unified shaders: Xenos, R600
    Cards which do not have unified shaders: R520, R580

    About the only part which is similar between Xenos and R5x0 is the memory controller, but only partially since Xenos has an EDRAM chip to cover most of the bandwidth requirements rather than multiple channels (the EDRAM controller is also similar to how the Ringbus of R600 works actually).

    i would guess that compared to pc gaming the 360 is close to an x1950xtx with an athlon 64 and the ps3 is about a core2 and a slow 7800 with a PPU that worked like a phsyX tech demo

    in anual comparison we are looking at about 4-7 years ago, without prerenders most 360 games are about the same as HL2or doom3

    makes sence, but i cant think of any games that work on msaa and i cant see why everything is in 540/560p that has anything graphicly intensive if its like an r600 it should chew through textures and beable to upscale on the fly while keeping fps since it would be purpose driven code

    FFXIII looks better on the PS3 due to the fact they Square Enix doesn't have to compress a whole chunk of CGI movies and data since Blu ray has enough capability to hold vs 3 discs for the 360 as on PS3 you'll play in 1080p vs 720p on 360 so of course there's a difference there.
    Usually for multiplatform games, the graphics for both console looks familiar or 360 usually has the edge over it as its color is usually brighter and sharper but we don't see that happen over time as developers are now more familiar with PS3 hardware.
    I still prefer PS3 graphics over the 360 since if looking at all PS3 exclusive games (NGS4, Heavy Rain, Killzone 2, GOW 3....) they look better than 360 IMO. I can only think of Gears of War for the 360 but not anything else, Forza 3 looks great but I'm sure GT 5 will kill it eventually.
    The only disadvantage of the PS3 I can think of is the limited memory 256MB vs 512MB on the 360, but in the end I guess it just comes down to developers to push each console power to the limit to make it shine.

    Wrong, R500 is a cut down precursor to the R600, it's a unified shader architecture. Not comparable to R520. R520 and R500 are not related.

    PS3 was advertised as 1080p 60FPS in all the games (was a pretty huge talk because X360 didn't had native support for 1080p).

    What do we have? 5% of the games are 1080p? Don't know the real figures, but apart from PixelJunks, Wipeout and GT5P not much more. All the big games are 720p.

    FF13 is not HD on Xbox360 according to wiki.
