Look at this madman go.. there's no stopping him.
Truly sick stuff, man. Those unibit cuts on the aluminum look beautiful. And the acrylic work, as always, is great. Radiator mount also turned out well.. I like how it appears to be floating (oh geez don't give me any more ideas if I ever want to complete my build..)
This project is filled to the brim with originality.
You had mentioned before that you were looking for a brake but they were too expensive. If you try to get one that shears or rolls, then you'll pay an arm and a leg for it. If you just want one for bends, like what I have, then I picked mine up on eBay for 70$. Compared to that router table of yours, it's like tossing a few coins down a well.
I believe that it's good for up to 15 gauge steel and 18 gauge aluminum. And they make beefier ones for just a hair more in price (around 90-100$.) Not sure of the thickness that you are working with, but I fab on relatively thin metal--around 1/16" since I like to keep my cases light--which this brake handles great. 1/8" it struggles with some. But it may be different if it was bolted down to a heavy bench as I just have it clamped to a workmate with some steel C clamps.

I almost cant remember what case this started life as. You have put so much into it you should have just started from scratch!!
If the quality of work seen so far continues it better win MDPC!!

It's fantastic ! Everything fits perfectly ! And, it's one the first time I see someone using a router to cut aluminium ! What speed do you use ?

Thank you, mate
Thanks, Xion. I did check ebay a few times but there was nothing available? The good thing is i don't think there is anything left to bend in this project, but, when i undoubtedly start another in the near future, i'll definitely look into those brakes you mentioned
Cheers, illidanDon't you just love it when things fit how they were intended. I've had that many "sigh of relief" moments throughout this project i'm all sighed out lol.
haha don't be like that. you're doing great thing with your project too. And what you've done with a simple dremel is incredible compared to what i've done with the stack of tools i've collected!
lol i appreciate the complement mate. really i do. but without sounding like a jerk, i'd kinda like to keep mdpc out of the thread. don't get me wrong, i'm unbelievably greatfull that you think so, it's just i've only seen bad luck come from mentioning those words prematurely (and i'm really superstitious lol).
Take this for example; if i went fishing (that's my job btw) and we had a great catch, i'd wear the same clothes the next day, even the same socks, putting them on in the same order hahaha. Now i sound crazy, but i hope you see my point
I appreciate it bud, thank you very much!
Thanks, nlancaster. I think the same thing sometimes (starting from scratch that is) but i just have a thing for this case
. this will be the third project in a row that i've used it. The first was a disaster to say the least, the second turned out a little better and this one is turning out great (if i do say so myself
). so what's the saying? Third times a charm?
I also mentioned it above and i really don't wanna sound like a jerk but, i'd be much happier if mdpc wasn't mentioned any more. you can read my stupid reason a few quotes up. Thanks bud
Hi Moitrux, thank you for the kind words!
The router i'm using (makita RP1800) has a "no load speed" of 22,000 RPM and i use an upcut spiral bit for cutting any metals. Cuts through aluminum like a hot knife through butter, especially with a cutting fluid (i use lenox) and it's a hell of a lot of fun to learn to use!
Thanks, mate. You were one of the fist people to follow my project so it's always a treat when you pop in and say hi
And it's still appreciated (as promised)![]()

Jeez that is all unbelievably nice...look at the recesses, perfectly aligned every single one of them.Speechless. Not as a turn of phrase but actually IRL speechless.
lolz! I lose Chuck all the time.

Another awesome update, Callen! The manner in which you present things on top of your mad skills makes following your work a joy to witness.
If I haven't said this before in voice or type, thanks for sharing your work, Cap'n!![]()

Callen_1 did you sold your soul to the devil?
The workmanship on the plexiglass and aluminium parts is worthy of XS.
Cheers, Kibbs. I'm really happy with how it turned out and i can't believe they actually lined up! It definitely pays to measure 10 times, cut/drill/tap once.
hey Cap'n, i always appreciate your complements
. We'll have another chat soon and discuss many things of great importance
like what else we can name around the workshop. The only problem with naming things is it increases the emotional attachment. So when they pass away it's all that much more heart breaking
, and i go through bits like they're going out of fashion!
Thanks, Red. I'm also pleased with the results
I think silver would look great! I'm really starting to get attached to the whole "bare metal" look, but the mild steel would eventually start to rust. i'm not sure we have the same case though, i have a pc-a10?
lol thanks mate
haha now i feel like an as$hole. Thanks mate
Cheers, H.o.m.i.e.. I appreciate it mate
Haha thanks dude, but i learnt everything i know from you guys so ...

I actually sold my soul to science; praise science
As long as you didn't sell your body to science and definitely not before finishing this build.
Callen, your work is truly inspiring - keep up the great work!![]()
