triple chanel memory

if i am on the 1156 platform that requires ddr3 memory can i use memory that is ddr3 Triple Channel? here is the memory CMX6GX3M3A1333C9 it is designed for i7 58x motherboards, and just want to know if it is backwards compatible with the ddr3 double channel or will it only work with i7 58x motherboards?
dose anybody have a clue i cant seem to dig up info.

It should work fine but I would suggest only using 2 of them.
