Fallout 3 has lag/hitches because fricken nvidia, screwed up. With older 180~ drivers a GTX 285 runs it as smooth as butter regardless of how high your resolution. I've begun to foster a great hatred of nvidia, as before with ATI, due to the ever increasing neglect they have shown towards drivers. I cannot go back to the horror of constantly messing with CC/ingane sliders to ensure of AA is working though. Heres hoping fermi isnt another damn leafblower, let alone one just aimed at screwing intel's desk up.

He's comparing the same cores... as in 8800GTX vs. 8800GTS 320/640 etc.

It's a good point though, cut-down parts of the same core are usually still within 20-30% of performance

    usually less...
if you look at the performance difference between parts of the same core that were launched at the same time, the difference is very small...

with 5870 and 5850 the difference seems to be really small at least it was at launch... i remember that in some benchmarks there was almost no difference between 5850 and 5870...

Right. The latest card to have a significant difference was probably the 8800 GTX and 8800 GTS 640 and that was only in extreme scenarios

You have a right to exist too, but the high-end should be the focus of discussion in a forum named as "xtremesystems", and specially in this threat.

I personally don't get how somebody like you can comment and correct almost every post in a thread full av people who care about the high-end GPU, and naturally have a totally different interest and understanding than your low-end desires could ever comprehend.

oh... your right... i should stop posting here i guess...
and all my previous statements have lost all their credibility... sigh...

god your really annoying man... your constantly trying to discredit people instead of what they say, just drop it...
in case you didnt notice, ive owned lots of sli and xfire combos, and my current rig has more graphics oomph than yours.
im not bragging, just pointing out that i DO care about graphics perf...
that doesnt change the fact that im more interested in price perf than perf no matter the cost.
now SHUSH and focus on the discussions and stop trolling, right? that a boy!

This is a joke post right?

No one could be this insulting without brain damage right?

It's like I'm 16 years old again and listening to people brag about the BMW's their parents bought them.

*Edit* And just FYI, people here actually like Saaya. I doubt anyone could say the same of you (based on this post at least).

*Edit2* If you're not trying to be insulting and it's a language barrier thing, I apologize in advance btw. I just can't stand to see people who have been nothing but helpful for years and years around here get trashed for no reason whatsoever.

As far as tessellation, the reasons given make sense.
What reasons? First of all there's is zero evidence that the fixed function tessellation stage is performed on the shader core. Secondly, Nvidia has specifically indicated that there is fixed function hardware for that stage in Fermi. You're essentially ignoring all the real data and saying it must be so because you read it on a blog and it's clear you haven't evaluated the claim on its own merits because you would've realized it's nonsense.

hmmm guys, does it really matter?
who cares if there is fixed fucntion hardware fo tesselation in fermi or not..
it does VERY well in tesselation, i think thats somebody we can all agree on, no?
and in the end thats what matters

whether that will actually be useful in games or its overpowered like charlie and some others think... well... only time will tell...

weeelll third party 3d sucks for ati, in all honesty...
availability is close to non existant, and i havent seen a single review so who knows how well it actually works...

and bullet physics and others on gpu soon... weve been hearing that for how long?
physix sucks, but if ati claims they have gpu physics too thats worse than nvidia trying and failing with physix imo...

Thank you saaya. The funny thing is that even if it was run on the shader core (it's not) why is that a bad thing? I'm sure if AMD did that it would be all the rage and Nvidia's fixed function hardware would be old and backward.

You left out the best part. He's also hinting that the GTX 480 won't have all SM's enabled

physix also was made with support from out side 3rd parties. IMO Physics has to mature still its not really ready to be used in large scale, Nvidia physix is a step who knows ATi's physics is the next one, one thing is for sure raw SP processing on ATi is hard to beat.
