Yeah, told ya , that happens when you use too tight timings, but I get "almost" the same bench-numbers in Everest no matter what timings I use with x8 RAM.

I don't know how tall the Dominator GT is, but NH-14 stands pretty high with good clearance under it. You need a RAM that can sneak under it, otherwise you will end up with just one fan in the middle (because you can't use the first push-fan with 3x2GB tall RAM) and will loose performance. I've use Megahalems too and it is a great cooler. I guess you will get better performance with 2 fans on it.

Yes, I have some Apaches in push pull on the Megahalem. Thinking of getting some Scythe Kaze Jyuni just for overclocking though.

Boots up directly @4.66GHZ(222x21) with PCIe=104MHZ , didn't try higher BCLK.

    Validated:

    Here are the EK blocks:

    Little mounting problems:

The capacitor touches on both point when the block is tightened so I recommend to put a small piece of paper over it. The cpu voltage molex should be cut on one of its edge, not realy a problem but still have to do it.

With the original air block, chipset was at 62°C idle and 68°C under lynx, case open.
With the EK, 45°C idle and never higher than 49°C under lynx.

As I don't have a probe in water, I can't tell the delta.

The rest of the config is:
    HK3.0 on i7 920
    EK 5850
    Mo-Ra2
2 Laing DDC-1Plus on EK dual top V2

Anyone tried a 3x1gb kit with this board? I ordered some Kingston HyperX 2000 cl8 to try. I would like to use the 2:10 memory multiplier without having to use so much vtt, idk if this will help.

They are the same except for cooling and PWM design (24 phase on UD7 against 12 on new UD5), but it's really hard to say whether those extra phases will make much of a difference or not.

How did you test that Angelo ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Yeah, it would be really interesting to see how a real 6Gbps SSD (like Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB SATA 6Gbps SSD) would perform on STA3 port of this MB.

Trying out the new 3x1gb kit, so far I really like it. W7-64 still feels good with only 3gb.

Just wrapped up a review on this board, I like it a lot. 229bclk through SPi 1M, 227bclk through SPi 32M and IntelBurnTest looped 5 times. I was using the F4 BIOS on my w3570 with 1.35vcore, 1.30vtt, 1.65vdimm, and 111MHz PCIe. I think I really only needed around 108MHz PCIe but I've been using 111MHz PCIe since the Classified launch

Going to play with the board subzero a bit later this week but I'm really saving it for Gulftown. I figure the board should handle gulftown rather nicely, it sure has enough caps and fets/chokes.

Looking forward to see someone testing this board on sub zero

I usually run with PCIe at 113-117 when benching, but dont see much gain after 106.

Has anyone seen an actual fried/dead i7? I tried searching for it and couldn't find anything.

I'm about to install my NH-D14 and do a new round of overclocking... I think I'm going to go as far as under 1.5v vcore and under 100C will take me... ?

hey guys how are we today?
i just got this rig up and running with success and i thought it was stable(5 runs intel burn test stable, never used prime) but last night after only about 1 hour of gaming it hard locked. i have only tweaked cpu and ram, i dont no much about NB vcore and the others so i need some help in that area. its at 4.6 ghz but its still only a mild OC coz its only at 200blk, thats the reason i got a 950 - to use the 23x multi to utilize less blk. if anyone has any suggestions on what setting to change it will be much appreciated. also i was running the 5970 at 850, 1000 at 1.162v at that time- its back at stock now to see if that helps, ive had a few incidents when loading into windows and it says display driver stopped working and has recovered.

    Question Booting

Quick question, are you able to boot from the SATA 3.0 ports? I heard that on the x58a-UD5 you cant...
