The XT is the first block to machine pins so small into a mass retail water block, it's not going to be perfect whilst being maintained at costs you're willing to fork out.

The block is currently the best performer on the market, it just works. Who cares what it looks like on the inside...

Do you guys care that the capacitors on your motherboard are not exactly 90 degrees upright from the PCB whilst they're working fine?

The block is currently the best performer on the market, it just works. Who cares what it looks like on the inside...

Because for 80 dollars US, it compares to other competing waterblocks, such as the EK Supreme HF and the Watercool Heatkiller. I've never heard complaints from owners of these blocks about the quality of the internals.

I'm sorry, but from my perspective, the block doesn't warrant that high of a price tag. You can criticize my viewpoints, but remember this is just an opinion.

$80.00 is a going rate and not a price set in stone and the MSRP is just a suggestion. I just picked a new one up for $59.99, the other day. At that price it beats the HK and EK hands drown. It could also afford a few bent pins at that price. I have yet to see either the EK or HK for sell at a price below $60 and I doubt I will for some time. Thats mainly because they just dont make as many as Swiftech does. If performance is key, and budget outwehighs the "bling" factor then the XT is a clear winner.

And on the note of looks, it doest look at all that bad, but I'll admit that it simply doesnt hold a candle to the HK. The build quality feels just fine. Better than my Fuzion, but pretty much on par with my Delta V3. Better mounting system than most blocks. Nice and heavy too.

That being said, here are the few bent pins on my XT, and it is very slight. Nothing to complain about. Just a minor little wave of pins on the outer edge. Swiftech has shown that even s certain number of squashed pins makes no real change in performance and they have been good about block exchanges for thost that have shown any real defects. IMHO the XT is a real winner.

Seriously now, beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, and aside from the joke above - which I really could not resist making, sorry, I never argue with opinions about cosmetics. I hear what people say about the looks of the HK block, and I do appreciate the simple lines of the original issue. Incorporating the mounting brackets in slots in the housing was a particularly nice innovation, and the designer at HK deserves a praise for this. On the other hand, Stephen worked on functionality, and I don't think he is getting enough credit for the reversible inlet plate. I have always pushed towards adding functional details to the things we do at Swiftech, and it may indeed encroach on cosmetics sometimes, we'll try to do better in the future!

Of course I didnt think about the new versions, cause I'm too happy with my new XT to even look at the new HK's. But the copper and nickle plated versions are still some of the best looking, chunky, blocks of metal you can get.

But every single time I pick hardware its performance and options first and beauty on a distant second. Please keep your design guys working on function over form, and you will keep me as a happy customer. \m/ ^_^ \m/

I just got an Apogee XT over the hk because I needed the best performing block on the market.

No offense to anyone but I've owned several different vendors and this is my first swiftech. So far I'm impressed. Keep up the good work, Gabe! Will use swiftech as long as they are the best!

But still, there's no denying it. The XT is also an extremely hot block .

I doubt that we can scream both for smaller pins/higher performance and also complain when those ultra-small pins get bent. It's a caveat of the evolution, IMHO. I also think that those who are unhappy with something are typically the loudest, so keep that in perspective.

so do these blocks now ship with 1156 backplates?? all the sites I see state call and ask for one, or they will after they become available. but none say wether or not they do. i want one bad but not if I need to pay extra for a bracket. or even wait a bit longer for it

Yes, all current XT's come with 1156 a backplate. You still have to ask for a 775 plate, but that's free as well.

Gabe, I was just recently given a GTZ and I want to put it on my second PC, but they only gave me the block, no mounting hardware(thumbscrews, springs, or backplate) Is there a way I can order these things?
