WHAU!!!!
My gosh, I dont understand something here....
In many of your linx tests in 32bit...I notice these X4's only do around 35ish GFLOPS....in 64bit they can pull over 50+GFLOPS at same frequency.
I have an i7 currently its a 920 @ 4ghz, in 32bit it does 53GFLOPS...in 64bit many peoples i7 at same frequency can do 58GFLOPS....
See the huge difference between processors?
Why is it such a huge gap with AMD?
I want to go to AMD again, but not if that means horrible 32bit performance =(
Anyone have some more 32bit runs on an X4 @ 4ghz? to confirm the above screenshot?
Thanks

I haven't noticed a drop in performance for 64 to 32 apart from linx and cine bench tbh lol. On the other hand higher clocks in 32bit and its a much nicer os![]()

WHAU!!!!
Phenoms do not exhibit poor 32 bit performance.... It's the way linx is compiled. Also,Phenoms (10h generally) do benefit more from crossing to 64bit binaries than any other x86 cores out there. It's the way AMD designed the core itself and the way GPRs are handled in hybrid and "pure" 64it mode.
If you take a look at gaming performance(for instance, since most users look at this segment first),Deneb design has great performance(compared to both phenom I and intel's offerigs),be it courtecy of large L3,improved branch prediction and faster caches over Phenom I(Agena) or something else.
I say if you are curious ,you can try out AMD platform and see the "forbidden to be mentioned smoothness" factor in general real world experience with it. If you do not like it for some reason you can always sell it or make a backup PC out if it...
Thanks for that information =)
I dont understand that you mention gaming on AMD is "great" compared to intel offerings, Im assuming you mean a comparably clocked i7?
I see benches with them all the time and the i7 constantly beats the AMD...
Now are you referring the the "smoothness" that AMD exhibits, which cannot be benchmarked...over intel?
If so, Ive heard this time and again about AMD, its smoothness factor in games. If that holds true even today and even over my i7, then it may be worth the switch.
Does this smoothness happen with either NV and ATi cards? or is one more likely to be smoother on AMD then the other?
Will this smoothness be fine in 32bit as well? The problem I have is....I dont really want to go through all the application reinstalls and reconfigures and retweaking and reinstalling and all that crap. Especially my games.
Wish there was a much easier way to go to 64bit =/

I wonder if anybody tested 64 vs 32 bits for win7 and see difference?
how much do you get for temp in idle at high volts with aircooling? for me, CNQ seems not work when it worked with other cpu.

Another try still on air, I couldn't go higher than this..
any suggestions??

Impressive clocks just not sure why the time sucksYou have alot of background processes running? Try clocking only the strongest core, you should be able to bench 1 core at around 4.4-4.6 on air.
My pot is bigger than your pot
WHAU!!!!
Just open up k10 stat or amd overdrive, they both give you the option to clock cores individually, push each core to its limit and see which one goes furthestThen use that one for single threaded benchmarks. You should gain at least a second there.

Hello everyone
Well i broke down got me a 965 BE C3 and why i was out at newegg i pick up a $89 dollar open box return Jetway HA08-Combo motherboard to put it in. I'am using vista-64 bit as my OS and i got a pair of XFX 4850 (1g) for my video cards Here my 24/7 clock using my old DDR2 memory (have some DDR3 coming in the mail ) and my 3dmark-06 run 22057 all in all not to bad for a $89 dollar motherboard you got to love AMD/ATI bang for the buck you get with there hardware.

She is one nice one, here comes more
Remember my first 965BE C3 that i needed -5c coldair to make 4140 prime95

Nice one LV.
I'm wondering, is that a 32 or 64bit OS?
Mine can do 4141MHz with just 1.487V (normal 21ºC ambient--windows XP x86) so getting a 955BE won't give me much improvement other than (hopefully) a better CPU-NB i'm afraid.
If only i could get a cpu with cores like my current one but a better CPU-NB i'd grab it with both hands.
Hopefully the 975 will live up to these expectations if it ever comes out.

lastviking:yes, i remember it. It was 0942 series as my. I have the same and in 32-bit XP is hard get with this a bit 4GHz stable. First testing in normal ambents i got 4034 Mhz stable, but today with the same setings i cant did it! Wtf..???? Today i have problem get 4 GHz stable (after several months). This chip is great with default voltage and scaling +- good up to 1.475V-about 3960MHz stable, than is it very inconsistent...Step form 1.53V up 1.55 dont help me nothing
