I see you like playing ruff, with that poor dead MB of course
    I didn't play much with x21, but I've seen a kind of jump/bump at 216x21 for 24/7 stability.
I've tried up to 220x21, and it boots fine (with PCIe= 100 ). It runs light load, and benches too with a "normal" vCore increase, but anything above 216x21 requires a big jump in vCore to stabilize for 24/7 use.
I settled for @4.51GHZ(215x21) 1.34v 10-run LinX on air because I couldn't stabilize the next BCLK with 1.36v.
This is for my CPU and RAM, and the limitation of my air cooling on this MB. It may be different for your setup. You should give a shot, it would be fun to see that @4.6GHZ beauty in 24/7 action.

4.6Ghz was stable of daily under some heavy watercooling. Board and chip were fully watercooled. Seems the caps just couldn't hold out

I'd love to try higher - this CPU loves low volts especially for posting with. Feel this chip needs a good board to be properly tortured in :P

With that low-vCore CPU that you got, an a good watercooling, you have a good chance, girl. Go for it , but promise that you keep playing ruff.

Ok, I've updated my BIOS and was able to drop my vcore and QPI/VTT both down a notch form where they were previously at for my conservative 3.52GHz daily clock. I think I may be able to go lower still and I'll see if 4.5 GHz needs the same amount of vcore as before as well but that's for another day:

It got so quiet here. You guys straggling with stabilizing the old stable profiles with BIOS F3?
In case, you are not alone. I couldn't get into w7 using the 10-run LinX stable @4.51GHZ profile. I get BSOD at w7 logo-load.
I didn't try much to stabilize it, but those few fast-tricks didn't work. Back to the good old BIOS f3h and w7 loading just fine now.

EDIT: And a fast SuperPi32M is working fine too. http://img.techpowerup.org/100203/Ca...3-20100203.jpg
Going to keep and test more on f3h for now.

It looks like it's a hot subject.... I mean hardware

I got mine last week, I guess I have a bad cpu batch as the higher lynx stable is 4200mhz, 200*21 @ 1.325V with qpi/vtt @ 3.55V and LLC level 2.

I hit a wall with the bclk at 200, any higher won't be stable.
    I booted once at 4.5ghz 215*21 @ 1.44V but crashed with lynx.

I tried F2, F3, F3k no change between them. I tried pretty much anything else that I read on this topic to break this wall, but no luck.

    Any advises?

I went back to the original f2 bios, the others I tried would pass LinX 20 passes 4400mhz and the next day fail with the same settings. f2 seems more consistent so I'll stick with it for now.

    Hi folks,

I just bought me the UD7 two days ago, and actually expected to find it harder to overclock my 920 C0 to 3.8 GHz as on my previous P6T Del. V2...

Same settings, same overclock. Rockstable so far. The only irritating detail of the Gigabyte BIOS seems to be that is is less cleaned up than ASUS, and that you can set the uncore clock to less than 2x memory clock...which simply doesn't work.

I am kind of glad to have this board, after having used ASUS boards for 15 years...ever since the times of 486 machines!

I will be replacing my x58 extreme with a UD7 this weekend.
I want to order a special 920 or W3520 to go with it.
What batches are best oc'ers and where can i buy one?
Will be cooling via chilled water - planning apogee XT with 2x Borias in series.
Going for the pcmark vantage WR - I am currently #2 - http://www.futuremark.com/community/...pcmarkvantage/

Yeah, we all love you, and what you do best. Specialty the way you do it. Just make sure to get a good loop, because you're gonna get overheated.

We got a firmware update for SATAIII with BIOS F3k. I don't know if earlier BIOS could get in trouble with that update.
I've seen a new "SATA3 firmware Selection"-option in F3 (if i remember right). I guess they are messing around with SATAIII-stuff without mentioning in change-logs.
I'm not sure whats going on, but these latest BIOSs are not working very good for me. Let us know the F2 is working.

You should wait for i7 930, it is coming 28 Feb. If I'm not mistaking it should OC better than current 920/w3520s.

    Sam,

How will the 930 be different from the 920 - same x21 multi?

I haven't seen the official specifications (if they are out yet), but based on the current info the i7 930 using x22 multi. It may have a big other advantage too, the week 45-batch which is one of the best, if the rest are like this one:

I wouldn't wait. 21x multi, 22 with turbo (and uneven multis work better), so you'd still stick with 21x, same as with 920...

Oops, sowwy, the good link: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=242323

x22 is a great advantage, but even if you don't use it, you can use x21 without turbo which is much better. But the week 45-batch should be enough reason to wait a coupe av weeks to check it out if the rest (or many) are the same batch.

Sam oslo: I haven't run into any problems going back to the original bios so far. I run the chip at 4.4ghz 24/7, passed LinX and some custom blend. After flashing to the last beta bios it would not pass with the same load vcore-1.424v. I bumped it up a couple notches and passed at 1.440v load, but still was not consistent even with good temps, sometimes it will still fail at 10 passes then the next time 18 passes, I tried 2 different kits of memory so I think I can rule that out. I flashed the bios back and haven't had anymore stability issues at 1.424vcore load. I normally don't use this much vcore for 24/7 use but Intel spec says 1.55 absolute max. I would rather use higher vcore than keep buying new chips to find a golden one, newer 32nm chips will be out soon anyway.

Can anyone confirm if I am understanding this correctly.
I have found it is impossible to get may ram stable with anything other then the 8x multiplier, and I think this may be the cause. So if I use a 10x 200BCLK then I have to make sure my UNCORE is at least 4000Hz. I didn't realize this was the case, but it makes sense.

With my new watercooling gear installed late last night I have 4.5 solid now, my temps seem ok but I still need to get all of the air bubbles out. Here is a couple screenshots 215 x 21, 4515Mhz @ 1.375 vcore in bios. I still have alot of tweaking and testing to go but I will be going for 4.6 next

Is it Ripjaws? If so, you'll be fine. I use Ripjaws 2000 CL9 and it's great.
