You must set the lower value to QPI, because it can go higher then 3800-4000(7.600-8000GT).
And for a 220 BCLK or > you need 1.294-1.309 VTT .
Can you put an Everest benchmark at 2100+...i wonder what read...write would be?
And all depends on what BCLK you 750 can do, mine can do 232, 222 prime stable, but there are some chips that can do more than 220-225.

impresive cpu... damn i got another i5 750 this time was l938B389 and the same, without 1.368v in bios llc on can not do 4 ghz prime95 stable.

Did you test those i5's on the EVGA P55 FTW board and does it have a Lotes socket?

My EVGA has a Lotes and my M3F has a Foxconn. I've tested my chips on both boards and it seems that all chip/motherboard combos behave slightly different with regards to the various voltage requirements. With my first i5 I couldn't seem to get it "longer term" Prime stable at 4.0GHz on my EVGA and I finally ended up getting it stable on my M3F with ~1.375v (LLC enabled) and ~1.30v VTT. That chip was a pretty decent performer up to 3.9GHz but 4.0GHz took more than I cared for so I sold it and kept looking for something better.

I checked the review at your site, excellent photos. The Lotes-socket equipped DFI looks to be a good board as well.
Looking forward to seeing some updates on your uber-cpu, but damn, such posts as yours makes me want to buy another i5 to try my luck again at cpu roulette

haha bought the cpu retail from pcmaniacs.com.au - but cpu oc'ing gods seem to look after me since my first pair of i7 920 c0 step 3836A756 which did 4797mhz on air for validation and 3d benched at 4440mhz HT enabled on air! Ever since then I've been a happy man

Yeah majority I've seen need much higher volts, although seen a few i5 750 do 4ghz at 1.22-1.24v so mine ain't the best but close

For single Super Pi 32M managed to 2x2GB A-DATA 2000X @DDR3-2234Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.66v and @DDR3-2207Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.64v both with QPI 4.8GT/s (18x multi). Hitting my current bclk limit of 223bclk.

2x2GB A-DATA 2000X @DDR3-2234Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.66v







2x2GB A-DATA 2000X @DDR3-2207Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.64v



2x2GB A-DATA 2000X @DDR3-2187Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.64v

I tried HyperPi v0.99b for 4x 32M Pi run but couldn't get DDR3-2207Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T 1.64v stable erroring out around 4-7th loop. Still fairly new to P55 platform so haven't figured out all the bios settings as yet. So dropped down the memory clocks until I could pass 4x 32M Pi test in HyperPi v0.99b and ended up at DDR3-2187Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.64v but had to loosen tRFC from 88 to 110 and tFAW from 30 to 35.



Been looking around online and not many P55 folks showing 4x 32M Pi stability tests ??

I just put together a new system and I could REALLY use some sort of bios template, just amazed at how out of the loop I have become in the past little while. There seems to be a lot of good stuff in here but it's got me all confused, I would really appreciate it if someone could shine some light into this dark little corner i find myself in.

I just put together a new system and I could REALLY use some sort of bios template, just amazed at how out of the loop I have become in the past little while.

One of the first things I saw before I picked up my i5 750 CPU was a Youtube video about overclocking the i5 750 using a P55-UD4P MB (see below link).

It's pretty basic really, but I found that to be a good thing when I was trying to decide if I wanted to purchase an i5 CPU. I did end up purchasing a i5 750 and was able to do 4GHz without any issues (luckily without a ton of voltage either).

Again, it's not a bad starting point if you don't know much about the i5 750 CPU.

I'm just hoping to get a decent 750, RAM, and mobo that will get me a 4ghz oc. Are there certain steppings that I should be looking out for with the i5 750?

You usually can't go wrong with G.Skill RAM.

I've used the following RAM in a few i5 750 builds and have been very happy with each of them.

G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

The G.Skill F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH Ripjaws you mentioned has better timings than the ones I've used, but I was able to run all of the above RAM at 8-8-8-21 without issues (I did underclock them a bit though).

It's amazing how the RAM prices keeps going up, when most computer part prices are coming down (I was buying the above RAM for $75-$85 just a couple of months back).

what are your voltages for a 4.4Ghz to 4.5Ghz on that board..we have the same board and i'm finding it hard to get past 215 bclock with 20 multiplier..

Cpu voltage 1.475 without vdroop, VTT 1.324, PLL 1.918, PCH 1.120, V dram 1.671v but i have some poor memory..and don't forget tu use lower QPI link value(you have two values, for example at BCLK 200 you have 6.400GT and 7.200GT). And don't boot from bios at 228 BCLK directly, use 220 and raise it with OC TUNER.

I also have to agree that GSkill Ripjaws are excellent ram. The set I have in my sig. have performed great. As for the i5 steppings, my early production i5 is not a stellar chip but runs fine at my 24/7 stable overclock@4000MHz. Later steppings seem to be doing better, at least voltage-wise, but y.m.m.v.

If your location is Vancouver, you should check out NCIX as they usually have GSkill Ripjaw kits on their weekly sale page.

I'll post some more results, when i resolve my waterpump problem. If i turn it off, i can't get it started again for a few hours (if). So i don't turn it off. Running CPU a higher can be a bit risky. Last time i was matching some of your SPI32M tests with ram on 2200MHz @1.65V and 220x20 core and i got too heavy on bclk button (love that MSI stuff). Got stuck with dead pump for 5 hours Need to screen some 3DMark tryouts, 4650 MHz with some help of open window

I'd recommend the F3-128000CL9D -4GBRL Ripjaws set, it's the set I am running and it's been great. That's the same set linked by LazyDogNet in the post above^
The latencies, although listed at CL9, can be run lower if you are not doing a high overclock. But it provides more headroom for a high overclock as well, this is very versatile ram. Ramp it up to DDR-2000 and it really flies.
