With cards like the HD 5970 and Crossfire setups, there will naturally be advances due to the tweaking of dual card profiles but other than that, I haven't seen any change in performance from the beta drivers that were released with the HD 5870 and HD 5850.
There are also naturally optimisations for new games, but since there are none that've come out recently...
