That Sux CrazyD.... Sounds like you may really have a weak chip..
That being said, take a step back for a minute bro.
I've been playing with my C3 for a few months now and it doesn't like anything over 1.5v on the cores (1.488 with droop via CPU-Z).
And the NB/IMC doesn't like anything over 1.3v (my IMC is pretty weak too)!
I know you've been playin with Phenoms for a long time too man, you know how they are!
C3's are really different beasts than the early versions. In fact this new stepping has been giving me fits too!
In the end, if you take your time, test each clock with minimal voltages and then blend all your results together, the C3's absolutly ROCK!
Lower your voltages to all stock, and test each thing by itself until voltage doesn't help, then use that knowledge to dial your chip in...
Even with my weak IMC (~2700 max) the C3 smokes any C2 I ever had and makes the old Phenom 1's look pathetic...
The more you play with it, the more you'll realize how sweet it is!
Good luck Man!

i think my post was interpreted the wrong waydont get me wrong i think i got a good chip and 4100mhz w/ any voltage prime stable on air is great, but i was just comparing to his screenshot, 1.43v for 4.1ghz is amazing! if this is a sign for whats to come we are in good shape
we know they usually scale to around 1.5v on air no problem so who knows, maybe 4200mhz will be around the corner if 4100mhz is stable w/ only 1.43v
all this assuming his cpuz is reading out correct vcore
edit: and nvspec, how much cpu-nb volts do they need for 2800mhz?

That is the real vcore. my tests were ambient air cooling with a megahalem and a 110cfm panaflo. I could take it outside but its TOO cold out there.
whoever asked. I'm using 1.45v on the CPU-NB.
I dunno. If I had to guess.. probably right around 18-20c. The cpu is idling @ 33c right now. I actually have 2 955's that can match each other. I got them from the 'egg if anyone wonders. 0945MPMW.
Hello, when you say that it is 'real vcore' are you measuring the vcore with a multimeter at one of the chokes?
The reason I ask, is because software reading can be very misleading.
i.e. My C3 is prime95 stablewith 1.52v (CPU-Z), the other day I switched to another motherboard, exact same model and bios, and now the CPU is prime95 stable with 1.49v.
The default voltage of the CPU on both motherboards also varied by 0.03v
i.e.
motherboard 1 default voltage = 1.40v (CPU-Z)
motherboard 2 default voltage = 1.37v (CPU-Z)
I need to get round to measuring the real vcore....

Asmola, nice overclock on..eh...everything! Especially considering your 26ºC ambient. (turn that heater down man, 26ºC is tropical, it's winter!)
Shame D9GTR takes so much volts to overclock that high, i bet you were close to 2.15-2.2V, no?

Mem's need only 2 volts (set on bios) for those timings/speed, but i must say those are almost max oc's for everything with these ambients.
Max nb clock that passes 06mark is 2977MHz and mem's 1848MHz and that's max cpu oc. So almost max for everything!
But i will try pushing this further.. and perhaps try lowering my ambients!![]()

Hi there, I got a watercooling setup and I want to know something:
Is the 955 125w better or the 965 better for % gain?
I'm at 3,8 ghz with a 720 be for the moment, and I want to beat the 4 ghz clock (It's mental!)
Or it is the same?
Or it always depends...
(I you could respond quickly that will be really appreciated!)
this is my 24/7 stable clock. I hit a wall if I push too much further, needs 1.5V+ to go any further, but my temps are already at my comfortable limit. So here it stays!

This one isn't capable of doing 4.1GHz stable and has weak CPU-NB.
Both of the CPU's are on water, but still it seems that the first 965, which I'm using is the best from the three. However this 955 could beat it, but I'll check that some other time.
I'll also try with different board (UD5P) very soon.

Could be my board holding me down. I will try today with Gigabyte MA790FX-UD5P, but I can put on water only the CPU, not the NB, because of the heat-pipe cooling system.
The difference may come from the phase count and actually I hope so
@memel Seems better than mine 955 (0952CPMW), but is it fully stable?
