You know, I'd never heard of the word "plait" before and so I had to look it up in the online dictionary.

    Now I wish that I hadn't.

Safety glasses are always equipped. The drill press comes in clear as day with these.

The finish line is finally in sight. It may be moving towards us at the speed of molasses buried in quicksand on a cold winter day, but at least it's in sight.

She's been terrific thus far, and I hope she stays that way.

Back to the grind I go. Hope to have another update very soon.

Never heard of the word plait, hay, more the short back and sides are we?

I take it that you don't have a wife, sister, female partener, close female friend with long hair then (thats hair on the top of there head too, not the arm pits, top lip or chin)
Ok then so your not a pirate that plaits his beard, live in or near a hippy community, don't where a plaited leather wrist band either, did you go to a all boys shcool, by any chance.

    Humm, interesting.

Err, nice glass by the way.

    Project Update: Zero Gravity Chamber

An all boys school, kg? No...

    Update - Zero G Chamber

Greetings, fellow enthusiasts. I've made some more progress on the Zero Gravity Chamber. All the shelf brackets have been installed and all mounting holes have been drilled for the shelves.

Here's where it stands. With both shelves installed:

And now, with both pumps sitting on the shelves:

The next step planned is to drill the mounting holes into the shelves for both pumps and brackets and then to complete the SSD mounts.

WoW Now thats Excellent to see Xion, very nice.
I know you have thought of this, but I can't help myself.
Drilling the hole in the perspex now in an excellent idea.
I am guess (hoping) that you are only going to bolt the perspex on.
If you do plan to pop rivet it on make sure you use washers on top of the perspex and Don't do it before it's powdercoated.

I know your not simple, it's just that I have seen a lot of really dumd things in fab work before, some of the dumdest have been by me.
Yeah I know you learn from your mistakes.

    Thanks, kg.

Friend, I never mind suggestions or warnings. In this particular scenario, I found the rivets to be a more brute force approach than what I was looking for. Riveting in perspex just didn't seem like a good idea to me, so, as you said, everything will be bolted down. For this, I'm using 6/32 MDPC black screws, a locking washer and a nut.

Hey Xion.... As I have constantly told you through this whole project... Your perfectionism has been just that, just perfect! Once you get the SSD drives mounted, can you please post another side by side shot (render / actual). Your artistry in your renders have been spot on. I just like seeing them side by side. It is AMAZING the way you are pulling reality from concept!

Thanks, bud. Since the renders were done with paint applied to the parts, I'll be posting another concept/reality shot once the SSD mounts have been completed and the Zero-G Chamber has been powdercoated. That'll make for a better side-by-side comparison, I think.

Thanks to all for your continued support.

excellent! there is a lot to learn from this log... like how to change your idea in a split second if it doesnt work... great job with figuring out how to to that plate. Im sure its also a lot sturdier now cuz of the metal brackets! like your method of cutting acrylic... seems really simple and clean... when i do it with a bandsaw its a pita cuz it just shoots white dust allll over the place. Nice job and can't wait to see more!

EDIT: Is that acrylic sheet even screwed in? i cant see any screws!

"How to change your idea in a split second"-- yeah, that's certainly me.

The sheets aren't screwed in yet. I still have to drill the holes in them to mount them to the metal brackets. What you see now is the shelves resting on the brackets which help support the weight of the pumps.

Right now, I'm experimenting with ways of bonding plexi. My weld-on came in this week, along with a syringe and hypodermic needle for application.

This stuff is supposed to react fast, so it shouldn't be long before I can see how clean and strong a bond it will make. If it works well, I should be able to build the entire SSD mount, brackets included, out of plexi to enhance the weightless theme.

The plexi? Those are just test pieces. I'm not about to ruin my good shelves just yet. Need to know how well this stuff works, first.

    Announcement: New Sponsor

Greetings, XS. An update to the project that has changed its course a little.

Dangerden will now be sponsoring me with their waterblocks for the CPU, chipset and GPUs.

EK and I will continue on in our best interests with no ill feelings. The change in sponsorship has nothing to do with EK, their products or their customer service as they are all excellent, and I appreciate their willingness to help support the project. This was a business decision based largely on finances. Dangerden was able to provide me with a significantly better sponsorship deal, and so I have decided to partner with them on r e f l e X i o n.

Dangerden will be supplying me with the following--

The MC-TDX block for my i7 CPU:

2x DD5970 GPU full cover blocks:

    The MP-X58 chipset block:

    1/2 x 5/8" compression fittings:

I've used Dangerden products for several years. My first Dangerden product I had when I built my first watercooled system a few years ago that ran two 8800GTX's in SLI. BFGTech used Dangerden as their waterblock outfitter for their "watercooled edition" block, and it performed excellently. I'm expecting the same of their latest products and cannot wait to get them in my system and under some H20.

A special thanks to Dangerden for their support on this project!

If I may make a suggestion on the DD GPU blocks, use rubber gloves when handling them at all times, the roughed up copper hold finger prints better than graphite. I love my DD blocks on my 2 gtx280's, but every place I've ever touched them there are now dark(er) finger prints there, and I thought I was being careful. In hindsight I wish I would have taken a buffer wheel to them and polished off the rough finish.

As far as the performace goes I couldn't be happier, you'd be hard pressed to get and component on the cards over 35c

congrats on the sponser and keep up the top notch work, looking foward to the next update

Thanks, Weevil. I spoke w/ Dangerden and asked them if they'd mind if I painted the copper facing on the blocks, and they were perfectly fine with that. So I plan to paint it either a metallic gray or black to better match my theme.

I'll buff/sand them with my dremel first, of course.
