Tri-fire scales incredibly. But I'd love to see the scaling of the 5970 quad fire on the recent drivers ...

Wow, that's insane! Makes me want to use a trifire setup! I could sure use the power with eyefinity. It's going to be a serious cash dump, though. Damnit, why is buying hardware so tempting

Yes nice FPS numbers, but with 3 cards you'll get a huge load of microstuttering: "However, 84 fps does not tell you how badly the benchmark microstuttered. The Same goes for 50 fps in CrossfireX. I would prefer to play this at 8 X MSAA since that provides a much smoother gameplay experience over all."

I am testing trifire (5970 + 5870) on Eyefinity at 7680x1600 (3 x 30" Dells) and the benchmarks are worse than a single 5970 at that resolution. At 2560x1600 they are great, yes. Using the latest ATI drivers (9.12 Hotfix).

I can post some of the benchmarks I have run if people are interested.

XFX HD5970 Black, XFX HD5870 XXX,
Thermochill 120.3 rad, MCP655 with EK D5, EK Supreme,

imo that would only make sense..unless u meant the 5870..

since a 5970 is two gpus on a single 30" and ur trifire + eyefinity is 3 gpus on 3 30"s.

    I believe you misunderstood me.

With Eyefinity, at 7680x1600 resolution, a single 5970 is scoring higher than a 5970+5870 trifire configuration.

With only a single monitor at 2560x1600, the 5970+5870 trifire outscores the single 5970, as they should.

I'd like to get a third 5770, however I dont think you can get the V1 shroud cooler ones anymore, and thats the only one I would want to match.

Also, on the Rampage III Extreme, I think you need to use slots 1, 3, and 4 for trifire which is silly in a normal case with 7 expansion slots
