or NVIDIA is in no rush to claim the DX11 market at the very beginning stages when there are no DX11 games even out, just DX10 games with DX11 bells and whistles.

when NVIDIA makes us wait it's normally for a very good reason, I mean ever since the 6 Series NVIDIA has struck gold at every launch.

Wow... Yeah, who would want to keep marketshare and actually sell products when they could wait and slowly sell the EOL'ed inventory...

Do you remember the last few times Nvidia made us wait? FX series, G90/G91(cancelled), G200b, 40nm G200 derivatives(G212/214 cancelled) and now G300.
Now on the other hand, the cards that actually launched in a timely manner, NV40, NV47(G70/G71), G80, G92, G200(sorta). See the difference?

So please, when did Nvidia make us wait and it was well worth it?

Depends on what they mean by a March launch. Is that the paper launch or the hard launch? Ever since we learned that Nvidia was going to produce A3 silicon, the general consensus was a paper launch at CES, with a hard launch in late February to early March. However, it the paper launch was pushed back to March, that would be very bad for Nvidia, since it probably means that they had to go to A4.

    Chris

Paper Launch/unveiling @ CES in January. Hard Launch and relatively mass availability would be in March... rather like ATi really, they paper launched in October and it's only the past 3 weeks we are seeing 5800 series cards arrive in the UK.

I wouldn't call selling 300.000 cypress cards in 3 months a "paper launch".
Availability could have been better, I concur, but they sold a lot of cards.

That maybe the case in North America but here in the UK we started to get a trickle of cards through in the past 3 to 4 weeks. Only 2 of the big 4 e-tailers in the UK have HD5870's in stock, and they will set you back around about 530USD. The 5970 has only just reached our shores and can be had at 1 of the 4 major e-tailers for 860USD

Right, then I don't know why these news sites are saying that Fermi was delayed again. Ever since Nvidia went to A3, we knew the hard launch would be in March, that's nothing new.

A certain UK retailer had hundreds of Cypress cards at launch and were receiving, supposedly, multiple shipments every month after launch.
Most likely they were going to preorders and the like.
