i think that is something in windows that makes my array not working properly when i bench in IOmeter everything goes normal when i hit the vandage everything sux..
if u saw my xls file that i sent u over yesterday u will be amazed about my results... even in small or big files... even in games my loads are fast.... even to the oracle that i use i broke 2-3 times my record..
in oracle ( REAL APPLICATION BENCHMARK ) im 2 times faster than a 16 array of cheetah sas drives...

Based on looking at the other high vantage scores that are available for review on the orb - I think pcmark vantage loves high throughput much more than high iops.
So how do you get that high throughput - you raid high throughput drives - the acards can only do ~175MB/s each, the x25-m's and vertex are much faster - what atleast 220MB/s or more.
If you had perfect scaling of 8 220MB/s drives - that would give you >1700MB/s throughput - look at Tilt's #120 post above - 1684MB/s - that kind of throughput should be huge for pcmark vantage.

You should have a huge pcmark HDD vantage disk score - I don't know why you're not seeing it.

If you're gonna buy today - get the 9211-8i, if you wait a couple months - f/w and s/w for both the 9211-8i and the 9260 should improve, at some point Areca is going to have to come out with something to counter LSI - when? who knows?

Don't go 9211-4i - turd says it is only pcie x4 - that might be problem down the road.

I don't know enough about the 5520 but if the xeons are i7 D0 stepping you should see a huge increase depending on how your mobo chipset handes them.

If the mobo manufacturer has done a good job - that should be a very hot setup.

yes steve-o i would imagine yoiu could do a boot drive and test and get the correct results, or at least the only way to check would be to test...main thing is a percentage based comparison of the cards load times with the games.
I am having issues with the 9211 and my array. i cannot obtain high bandwidth numbers. i am limited to 1100 mb/s for some reason. i believe it is my motherboard i am not sure. i am working some various angles, but i am not convinced that i can solve it. i know the performance is there, i can see these guys getting it. i believe my problem is nf200 related. gah.

One of the few advantages of the acards that I didn't realize when I got them - no usage degradation and easy reset. Easy reset just by removing power.

No it's not, it is ICH10R and the Intel G1's.
The only tweak is a particular stripe size.

The forum is down so I can't check the scores for the other stripe sizes.

with ICH9R and 4 intel G1's with stripe size of 128 256 the maximum result was 70k.... not even close to 120k....

    Tiltevros,

You'll have to try lower stripe sizes

@ Anvil. Have you tried increasing spare area size by making a smaller partition? Intel are saying that iops go up considerably as the free area is increased.

Check out this IDF 2009 presentation (13.30)

    @audienceofone

No, not yet, but it's on my list of things to try

I was thinking of using 3-4 G2 160GB with 40GB spare area each.
Hopefully I'll be able to do the tests this week.
