I don't need the tool, mate.
I'd just like them to unlock this new BIOS, like they unlocked the older one, in the thread I linked.

The BIOS actually works with 5850 as well AFAIK.

So it would benefit 5850 users greatly as well!
Come on guys, someone unlock it! Please!!!

Eyefinity fixes. Plus I got rid of DP flickering, too.

With the previous bios my eyefinity arrangement gets messed up when you my monitors return from standby after not using my pc for a while. Loading and exiting a 3d program or pressing control + alt + del fixed this, however. With the new bios the arrangement stays correct after my monitors return from standby.

i tried to install the bios that you guys provided here, flashed and when booted to windows it didn't recognized as an ati card.

Reflashed to my original bios, and everything went back ok. I went to techpowerup, and downloaded the latest xfx 5870 bios dated 16-11-2009.

Flashed and everything went ok, except for one thing, my anti-virus stopped working, and so did all the cpu-z, gpu-z, hwmonitor and all those programs.

Do you guys have a clue? Help please, otherwise i will format the hard drive.

So did you try the unlocked BIOS? Or the normal one?
The unlocked BIOS is broken. The normal one is fine - just make sure you don't get a corrupted download for whatever reason.

I used the normal bios, and from what i could see the games were running fine, but i still don't understand why certain applications couldn't run.

I even flashed with the XFX 5870 version of the latest bios downloaded from techpowerup!

don't think so, otherwise it would't work, i think! Flashed sucessfully 3 times, so corrupted bios doesn't seem to be the problem.

i can't restore windows back, so probably install a fresh windows seems to be the only option

I just hope you uninstalled drivers -> flashed -> reinstalled drivers, in that order.

LOL i forgot to uninstall drivers I will do that!

Edit: finally i could restore the system, then uninstalled the drivers as zalbard told me to do, flashed again this time to latest "ati" official bios and not the latest xfx bios. Installed drivers and everything is working just fine.

    Thank you once more zalbard

Same here! But I NEED an unlocked BIOS, otherwise no Powerplay for 1GHz overclocks.

flashing a BIOS on a $400 GPU isn't the most normal way to go about fixing something, did they ever say what it was for? Seems like EyeInfinity would be an easy driver fix, why did it require a new BIOS?

I know guys over on Guru3D that killed cards flashing BIOS because of faults in the BIOS or the flash software, it's just not the safest thing to do.

Fixes flickering for people using Display Port, it has been mentioned like 5 times in this thread.

I've flashed videocards at least 30+ times. Nothing ever went wrong, and even if it did, it's very easy to reflash a good bios using a pci videocard, or flashing blind. I know it's not a normal way to fix stuff, but I know most companies wouldn't ever bring out a fix at all. I rather like the fact ATI is looking after it's costumers.
