If I dont get every single drop out of my cpu I feel like someone is stealing from me
I started so innocently tonight...
My intention was to find out the max Core clock I could get using the lowest CPUVid possible (everything else lowered). After a few beers it turned out to be massive voltage on the Core...
(FWIW, I could do 4020 @ 1.44v's)
I took Vcore all the way up to 1.575 (temps remained under 53c) but ~4.12Ghz still seems to be the limit of what this chip will do under ambient water...
Not sure if it's Electromigration or what, but anything over 1.5v just doesn't seem to help....
After hours of tweaking, I wound up right back where I was. Stable, and actually very sweet clocks!
I'll try doing the 32M run at these clocks for ya Simon.... BRB...![]()

My replacement board will be here tomorrow, I was trying to find a better bios, and bricked it.
See if I can do some 32m runs this weekend.
Prime95 3.9ghz-4.0ghz cant testa again the chip is gone. I think its same like yours can do....+-10mhz or same. Trust me the cpus was very close to each another. You almost did 4140mhz i did it but it was very hard... and more vcore didnt help me....next steep on the vcore did put out to much heat.
I dont think anyone could have more fair fight than your cpu vs mine + almost same temp outside to.

My 0942EPMW is very strange. In XP 32-bit i can hit stable 4034MHz + 26xxMHz at NB (with normal AIR and ambients). Benchmarks up 4150MHz, superpi 32 at 4200 and superpi 1M 4300MHz. But in x64 win7 i have this "bug":
1.456V 3917MHz+28xx MHz NB stable., next step up at 3950MHz i must go up 1.488V and NB down 2600+. And higher clock stable-nothing (3970 i tried with 1.488, 1.5, 1.52 and 1.533V :-/ )

Did some 32M runs but the results are a bit dissapointing due to low CPU-NB clock.
This is CPU-NB maxed out:
NBvid is 1.375, raising NBvid didn't help here.
This run is with the ram clocked up nicely:
Tomorrow my new ram will finally be here (Dominator GT), i will try more ramspeed then.

Zeus & Daveburt714,
Really nice, I am still thrilled to have the temp profiles so we can witness the heat robbing power of the cooling solutions.
You know, with OpenCL GPU driver support we are going to start to see some very interesting (non-graphics but C PU/GPU intensive) total system loads. That's where my head is at as I look at the Pi runs. Shouldn't be long now. I think that is one of the destinations, not the only one.
Pi is a lenient bench, Prime makes it look like a toaster Deceptacon. Not easy because it still moves CPU utilization, just doesn't drive a lot of additional heat. On my daily beater (H20 Asetech in rare MainGear SFF Box) it only moves 5C off idle and under your asskicking solutions only moves 3C.

Nothing exciting here, I didn't have the NB cranked up (only 2200), but thought i'd see how the temps were. I didn't need a lot of volts for Pi.
I have 8GB of RAM. I threw in my Kingstons with the OCZ's (don't ask why I ran this with so much Ram), so I had to run CAS 7.

Wow, 12-13c! I was gonna say no window ledge required until I noticed that!
OpenCL sounds really cool. I look forward to learning more.
I like the notion of testing with a game. Actually, I kinda use Codemaster's Grid for that purpose now. If my system is slightly unstable, it will actually crash despite passing an hour of p95 blend. Of course, this is usually as I'm about to win a tough raceHowever, I suppose it would be hard to achieve a consistent load without running a demo
I'll have to download SuperPi. Even though I'm an ancient pc enthusiast (probably even older than theoldtimer) I've never used it. Thanks to all of you for continuing my education

My Tiny RAD that came with my Swiftech kit is just sitting in the garage with 2 120's on it. It is getting cold here in Ohio.
I got close to 4.5ghz with 2800NB. only 1.3v on the NB. I can't do 3ghz to save my life. Notice the spike of temp at the end. Edit: I lied, I opened paint after the screen shot. Not sure what it was, must have been the mouse moving lol..

That's not a tiny RAD. This is! It came with my Swiftech kit 5 years ago. I've since upgraded to the same one as you have, I think.
Which pump? How long is the tubing? I'm considering following in your footsteps, since my office is next to my garage (just have to hide the hole in wall from my wife!).
It's getting cold here too, although I suspect it may get colder for you, despite my being in Canada, since I'm near the Atlantic.
Hmmm, I'm probably in the same boat WRT nb freq, since I need 1.35 for 2800.

LOL, I stand corrected. I guess mine isn't so tiny. I will get some pics to show what I did. I have 2x 8ft of tubing which was more then I needed, but will give me room to play with. My wife didn't care as long as i put a plate on the wall (which I have yet to put on). I have the H2O Apogee GT kit and the MCP655 pump. I am working on a chiller (in my spare time lol) to replace this idea so I can run cool in the summer also.

Hi cc3....
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but honestly copying someones BIOS settings won't work with PHII, even on similar systems you'll have to test your gear to find the best settings.
Most of my BIOS settings can be seen in the SS above, 223 x 18.5 x 11 x 12...
Bios Vcore setting is actually 1.5v (board undervolts a little) and the CPU-NB(IMC)v is set @ 1.3v. I did have to add .1v to the chipset NB to stablilize the higher HTRef (223).
The only way you'll be able to tune your system is by trial and error...
Tweak one thing at a time, bumping voltage until you see diminishing results. In other words, if you have to go up 2 or 3 bumps on voltage just to get a slight increase in clocks (reguardless of which clock),
you can assume your getting really close to the best it will do with your cooling solution. Make a note, lower the voltage and clock a little and call it good...
FWIW, this is the way I do it, there may be a better way, but this works for me...![]()
Remember to take everything else out of the equation while you test each component of your system!
1st: Test the limit of your HTRef clock (make a note of the best it will do)
** NOTE ** High HTRef isn't always the best option on a BE chip, but it's nice to know!
2nd: Using the above knowledge push your Ram, keeping the HTref below the limit (make a note).
3rd: Push the CPU core clock (make a note).
4th: Push the CPU-NB(IMC), and of course.... (make a note).
After you've done all this, you should have a good idea of where the problem lies when you overclock and can adjust things with a better understanding of where the problem may be...
Hope this helps...... Dave
Oh... One other thing! I've had a number of Phenoms, and they've all gotten squirley when core temps go over 53c, so watch core temps too.

here is a pic of temps after playing UT3 for about an hour... its right around 50% cpu load while playing - room temp is 70f, closed case
lets see, the speedfan/taskmanager both only show the last 13-15 minutes so that is what you see for load/temps
also on this screenshot i still had my ultra kaze hooked up to pwm so it only got up to 1500rpm and its hard to see but it was right around 42c during gameplay... i ran it again with the ultra kaze @ 3000rpm and it was between 36-38c the entire time during game, idle 29-30c within like 1 min. of closing the game
EDIT: here is some winrar loads w/ ultra kaze @ 3000rpm in closed case, 70f ambient
the bottom picture shows task manager load with speedfan right below it, pretty much lined up with each other for about 14 min. so u can see how the temps corresponded with the loads
first i started archiving a 3gb folder full of flac songs - it was about 50% cpu load, 38*C which is shown here:
and it didnt look like it was going anywhere so i added a few more things to be archived. when i started the next folder it went up to 80% cpu load, temps barely changed, so i added a 3rd to get 100% load - got about 40c, which is shown here:
when one of them finished i took a screenshot of 2 running the cpu at 80% load - got about 39c shown here:
and a screenshot while just the last one was running 50% load - about 37-38c:
and idle shortly after - about 32c:
