    A Semi-accurate Look into Fermi

    http://www.semiaccurate.com/2009/12/...-silicon-oven/

LOOKS LIKE Nvidia has put the A3 stepping of Fermi in the oven, it happened some time last week. That means that you may see cards as early as February, depending on two or three other factors.

If you assume that A3 went in the oven on Dec 1, that means Nvidia will likely get the first hot lot silicon back in house on Jan 1, 2010 give or take a few days. It looks like Nvidia testing staff are going to have very happy holidays. In their cubes. What does that mean? Sit back and enjoy the numbers......

This is a surprising decent article on Charlie part. Less hate than usual, I hope he can keep it up.

He wrote the exact same article about A1 and A2 revision of the GPU and then he was flamed for being bad towards Nvidia

When the amount of hate is reduced in an article, even if its a tiny bit, you will notice it in a charlie article.

Says the dude with the AMD logo for an avatar.

    I kid.

I almost never go to the actual SA site, because I despise Charlie, but I made an exception this time and he stuck to a more factual delivery which was refreshing.

That type of speed is competitive with the 5970.

Its NV PR, but charlie didn't immedietly scoff at it and the specs of fermi do suggest that type of speed.

wow 40% eh. AMD and Nvidia keep this up with every revision, its good news for pc gaming yet, cant wait to see what graphics engines are gonna be thought up in the future.
This post above was delayed 90 times by Nvidia. Cause that's their thing, thats what they do.

im interested on amd actual counter in october, should be fun i mean, 5000 series then gf300 then 6000? series, then gf300b (shrink etc..) then yeah etc etc..

i wonder what 6000 is like though seeming that will be a new arch too

With games staying the way they are, by 2011 we'll be seeing 1000 fps.

Oh, I forgot tessellation, the thing that will kill our graphics cards without actually making the game look ten times better. I am progressively getting off-topic, but I believe that adding in tessellation will be the PC-programming-lazy developers' way of making the game look better

The 500 mhz A2 info is interesting as well - and it puts the 750 mhz figure in a dubious light. Correct me if I'm wrong but a 50% clock increase in a single revision is unheard of....

do Fermi have eyefinity or something similiar?
of not, dosnt matter how fast it might be or how advanced calculations it can do.

    its a failure.

speed is of no essence, as current generations is fast enough.
features that are useful will be decding factor and ati got eyefinity right.

It could probably still be possible if there were very specific problems affecting possible clockspeeds more than is normal. I'd say a 50% increase from a fully working revision to another fully working revision is unrealistic, but if A2 isn't working properly (doesn't seem like it) and A3 will work properly, it could happen. I don't think one should expect too much, though, but let's hope they can do it (good for us if they can)

Yes I agree on the 1000 fps part since from now on all we would see only terrible console ports can't imagine when PS4 or XboxW/e comes out is going to get worst...

By other hand the first time I read the article I thought Charlie started to go to church or something...

Nvidia doesn't need eyefinity, its a feature not all people could have by other hand 1920x1080 is becoming mainstream now and next year we can expect more 2560x1xxx displays, theres is where they aiming at now seems because one doesnt make sense to do an xfire of HD5000 series for playing at 1920x1xxx when one could do the job nicely, unless want more fps and grab an 1080p 120mhz display which comes out in january...

mh, i don't agree, you could also say the 5000 series is a failure as it doesn't support physx
